Re: LADIES AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS PLEASE OVER 18- NEED ABIT OF ADVICE

You can stop the test at any time @scared01.

I only had my first test done 2 years ago. I don't want to freak you out or anything, just make sure you have some self-care planned for afterwards.

From my experience, they tell you exactly what they are doing and I found the scariest part being when they released the speculum because of the loud noise it makes, but that is literally right at the end of the test.

My next test is after the new one is implemented and my GP said that as far as they knew, I would still be able to get it every 2 years if that put me more at ease than waiting for every 5.

@SmileMonkey, now you have me wondering if there is a sexual health clinic near me. Hmm. I would definitely be better set up than my GP's office.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: It didn't go as planned and that's okay. ツ

Re: LADIES AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS PLEASE OVER 18- NEED ABIT OF ADVICE

I completely agree with @JanaG you've got a great plan happening @scared01

It's amazing how much better we can make things for ourselves by thinking about what we need ahead of time. Your decision to book an appointment for just questions is a fabulous one. Even the very great medical centres have time restrictions regarding appointments and they are not always great at communicating that. (It took me a while to work out that the doctors I see have 15 minute appointments so if you need more you book several in a row)

You asked earlier about sedation. Talk to the doctor / nurse. It is used sometimes for women who have extreme anxiety about these types of tests. You might find that talking about and understanding the process is enough. But if it's not, talk to them about options. If taking half a muscle relaxant prescribed by the doctor is going to allow you to go through with it, then that is way better than not getting them at all.

Again, congrats on asking about this @scared01 we don't talk about this stuff enough and it's something that affects half the community  Cat LOL

I don't have anything about breast lumps but its good youve picked up on it and its being monitered!

I'm currently monitoring low grade changes in my cervix if thats kind of related so if you have some anxiety from this i empathise.

well done on booking these appointments and going to them as well!! you are indeed brave, you should be really proud of yourself.

Re: LADIES AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS PLEASE OVER 18- NEED ABIT OF ADVICE

my breast lump actually popped @ivory

So i did go to the gp and its was incredibly scary but im kinda glad I went after what I was told.
So its a pretty big infection. She said im lucky it popped now as the gunk mustve been accumulating very quickly esp of the 2 weeks I was monitoring and if it didnt pop I would have been feeling a lot more sick with a greater infection with all the accumulation of all that gunk.
She said im going to be sore and sensitive for a few days but hopefully it settles soon. She hd to play with it abit to check for anything else and how large it was. She ended up findina another spot and when she did omg it popped open and more and I was pretty much heaving at all the stuff coming out! It was really disgusting!
I have to take antibiotics 3 times a day until I finish the 2 repeats and also get my gp to check it on wednesday and if I need more antibiotcs to get some more. I also have to use like an antiseptic with betadine being the best she said 2-3 times a day so morning and after a shower. But she said to keep it covered with a sterile dressing so that my clothes dont keep rubbing on it so change it of a morning when I stick the antiseptic on and then after my shower change it again and apply more.

i kinda wish my gp had of done thoses tests now like an ultrasound or something to detect it instead of waiitn and this was only after two weeks imagine if i had of waited longer! it might have infected my whole body (sepsis) wow gosh. i feel bloody lucky and relieved as she was very worried when i got there and was feeling around and realsied the state of it like a bloddy volcano erupting
