The Bipolar support thread

This is a thread for people who are living with Bipolar. Whether you are have been living with it for a long time or are just starting to wonder if you should see a doctor about what you're experiencing.

I kind of just want this to be a place for people to come to share their story and support each other a little bit but to get the discussion going...

What's one thing you'd say to someone who's thinking about talking to a doctor about what they're experiencing.

Be as open as you can as to what your experiencing even if it's really embarrassing. Like for example spending way too much money or lots of sex when your manic. Or self harm when your depressed. Or strange thoughts and beliefs you experience with your mood swings.
They can't help you if they don't know.
Also be willing to answer questions.

And know just because your asking for help for bipolar doesn't mean they'll automatically think your crazy and chuck you in a psych ward. They'll work with you to identify the best treatments. Sometimes hospital is necessary and that's ok, just remember they do it for your safety and have your best interest at heart.

And remember that it's ok to be bipolar, you can learn manage and build a great life.

Oops that was more than one thing 😛
