Sex: myth busters!

On Thursday 29th of August at 7pm WST/9pm AEST we'll be joined by our mates at YEP crew as well as moderator @gail who will be co-facilitating this month's Infobus. Together, they'll be busting all the myths and stereotypes we've been told about sex and relationships and we'd love you to join us!

Here's what they had to say:

"Hey there, YEP Crew peer educators here! We're running a MYTH-BUSTING forum on porn, relationships, condoms and STIs. Think you know it all? Come and share your knowledge! Need some answers? Come on in and get access to accurate information and helpful resources! In the meantime, check out our Facebook page for info, resources and referrals! www.facebook.com/yepcrew"

Youth Educating Peers (YEP) crew is a group of young people who want to make their peers aware of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood bourne viruses (BBVs). They wanna talk to you about sexual health and relationships so you can make safer and informed choices.

Join us on Thursday 29th to have your say... Infobus sessions are 90 minute discussion where we invite special guests to join us to talk about some of the tougher issues that you face. It's the place to have a frank and open discussion with a group of other young people as well as, (in this case) a peer educator. This month we'll have four special guests from YEP crew.

In the meantime, here is a video YEP crew put together...

Re: Sex: myth busters!

Hi guys!

Welcome to tonight's Infobus, where we'll be busting a heap of myths about sex!

Ever been a bit unsure about how porn compares to 'real' sex, the pros & cons of using protection, how casual relationships work, or STIs? It can sometimes be a bit awkward to talk about sex or ask questions, so this is the perfect opportunity to learn a bit more about all that stuff. We're lucky tonight to have Anna, Gabby & Liv from YEP crew to help us out.

As always, remember to keep the discussion within the guidelines, and if you need to talk to someone one-on-one, click the 'emergency help & info' link here, or up the top right of this page.

Let's get started!

Re: Sex: myth busters!

Here is the first question friends!!!

1. How do you think porn sex compares with real sex?

Re: Sex: myth busters!

I think a lot of the time young people aren't getting great sex ed information at schools so they turn to google. google always leads to porn! because if it exists, theres a porn about it!

Re: Sex: myth busters!

"1. How do you think porn sex compares with real sex?"

Hmm... well I think one thing for me is that porn is a created moment, it's not a real moment that's just happened to be filmed... so it's never going to be like the real thing.... in lots of ways

Re: Sex: myth busters!

I think that porn sex can be quite over-the-top, with dramatic groans and sighs that might not be natural for everyone.
