Mindfulness Mob - group Smiling Mind sesh

Yo everyone!

 

 A few months ago, @Ben-RO and @j95 started up a thread where we could get together to do some mindfulness exercises together and chat about how it went. The thread was: Letting The Negative Self Talk Go

 

I found it really helpful and wanted to see if anyone's interested in starting back up.

 

What happens:

  • Download the Smiling Mind app or go to the Smiling Mind website and sign up.
  • Organise a time to meet up in this thread!
  • At the chosen time, come here and have a quick chat about how everyone's feeling before trying a meditation.
  • Choose one of the Smiling Mind meditation exercises to do.
  • Do the meditation!
  • After it's done, come back to the thread and have a quick chat about how you feel now, if there were any good bits, weird bits, general stuff you discovered during the meditation.

What we need to do first:

  • Pick a regular day/time to run it! The previous one was every weekday at 5:30pm AEDT (Eastern Daylight Savings Time), but we can pick something else or maybe multiple options depending on what suits everyone now.

How'd you go?

Before I started I was feeling pretty irritable. I kept getting distracted by some loud traffic noises somewhere outside. I think it actually helped right towards the end when I was focusing more on feeling my body on the chair and stuff, rather than trying to focus on breathing.

Sorry, I lost track of time and was walking the dogs.

Ok free session today 😛 Pick your own and do it in your own time 😉

I'm doing Adult - 102 "Mindful Eating" because I want to eat this cupcake.

Feeling before: what I've decided to term "isolated mode"

 

Edit:

Feeling after: impatient about my cupcake 😛 I guess it was interesting to try, but I think I need more practice at it to be more patient about it.

@N1ghtW1ng I was a bit the same I kept myself almost distracted from it because i was fidgeting but similar to @Ben-RO it made me think about things that I tried to sort of push away and deal with later

I found it pretty easy focusing on my breath although I had a bit of a weird breathing pattern once I started 😛 Cause I still can't think about breathing without actively having to make myself breathe.

I had lots of thoughts about things that happened/are happening/will happen 😛

I find it difficult to focus on my breathing because when I do, I find it's a bit shallow and difficult for me. So that was a challenge. (Sorry for replying so late, I basically dumped my phone and laptop in my room and left to watch TV afterwards :P)
