COVID 19 - 2.0

Hey Guys,

Being a victorian must be really difficult right now.. similar to other states who are easing back into restrictions. I wanted to start a thread about covid 19 2.0 isolation/lockdown. Many people are in the same boat and we all need to support each other. I've put below some questions, answer as little or as may as you'd like.    Smiley Happy

What are some positives about the isolation? (e.g - more down time, more time for self care, school from home ect.)

What are things what help you while in isolation? (e.g - A TV series, bath bomb, food, self care product, music style ect.)

What is one thing you may be worried about during isolation? (e.g - missing friends, unable to play sport, online schooling ect.)

Add a fun GIF, meme or joke to lift everyones spirits.

Re: COVID 19 - 2.0

Thanks for making this thread @LeapofFaith!

What are some positives about the isolation?

Hopefullyyyy, it gets these numbers going down and we can start living our lives closer to how we want to soon enough! I've got my fingers crossed that people start taking social distancing and self isolation more seriously from now on, so that we don't have to go through this all again.

What are things what help you while in isolation?

My garden! I've been spending my days tidying it up, getting it ready for spring. And the lawn's a nice space to dance in Smiley Happy

What is one thing you may be worried about during isolation?

I'm a little worried that this is gonna keep going on into next year, when I plan to be studying...

Re: COVID 19 - 2.0

This is a great thread @LeapofFaith! I don't live in Victoria but it's good to look for some positives in a time like this.

What are some positives about the isolation?
More time to spend with family and on hobbies. No commuting, not having to go in person to some of my appointments. More time to spend in bed.
What are things what help you while in isolation?
I tried out a lot of new skincare products now that I am spending more time at home. I've also been keeping a journal and playing lots of video games.
What are things what help you while in isolation?
A lot of things, mostly potential negative effects for my family and friends and on the economy.

Re: COVID 19 - 2.0

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for making this thread @LeapofFaith, its great to be able to chat about what's going on and hopefully lift some spirits and get some self-care ideas too Heart Love to hear about people gardening, dancing and gaming!

Here is a link to the Ask A Pro we had recently where we spoke to Dr Joe about social isolation, looking after ourselves and finding hope. This is one of the gems from the chat:

"If we can accept the changes, the challenges, it is easier to live with. We will come out of this in time even if it doesn’t feel like it at times. We have to adapt. Humans always adapt and try to be grateful and positive if we can."

What are some positives about the isolation?

One positive for me is that not commuting to work means that it's not too dark to go for a walk when I finish work! Usually by the time I get home it's too dark and cold, but going for a walk has been a nice way to end my working from home days.

What are things what help you while in isolation?

I try to frame things at the moment as "What can I do?" Rather than "What can't I do?" This has been so helpful for me and led me to do things like fostering kittens, doing online trainings, catching up with friends who live interstate online, and a LOT of hair masks, - things I probably wouldn't have done otherwise! As well as not being too hard on myself, we are all going through something really awful, it's important to have chill days.

What is one thing you may be worried about during isolation?

I think I am worried about what the transition back to normal life will look like, and that it may happen too fast and not properly acknowledge what we've all been through. I hope that in the process of returning to regularity there is time to grieve and reflect.

Here is a nice cat doing some V important nail care.

What are some positives about the isolation?

No more long commutes, I can wake up 5 minutes before my classes start, more time for hobbies, and online open book exams woohoo!! I can also call my family more often now that everyone is working from home.

What are things what help you while in isolation?

Okay, this is odd but I love looking out my window. Going out for walks, crocheting and volunteering are fun as well! At once of the places I volunteer for, I get to send cards and letters and all sorts of crafts to people living in isolation, and it always makes me happy.

What is one thing you may be worried about during isolation?

Not getting to see my family any time soon. I'm not worried, it's just not fun. And cancelling plans with friends. I'm a bit worried for my friend who lives in the US as well, I hope she can continue her studies and graduate on time.

Add a fun GIF, meme or joke to lift everyones spirits.

I'll tell you a coronavirus joke now, but you’ll have to wait two weeks to see if you got it.giphy

These are such good ideas! Cleaning is always a good way to feel put together. I love a good dance space as well!

Re: COVID 19 - 2.0

Great idea @LeapofFaith! It can be so easy to feel overwhelmed with everything that is going on in the world, and I know I have been a bit down thinking 'why Victoria' and feeling a bit jealous of other states who's restrictions have eased.

What are some positives about the isolation?

Spending more quality time with my family. Because we can't see anyone else, we have made an effort to do fun things together... like themed dinner parties, more board games, and just more discussions!

I also have had more time to focus and reflect on my career and what I really want to do with my life. It really puts things into perspective when you can't leave your house! Now I've enrolled in a new uni course and I can't wait to get started next week!

What are things what help you while in isolation?

Sticking to a normal routine (as much as possible)! The first round of lockdown I found myself not being very productive because I would sleep in and stay up late because of the lack of other things I had going on. This time I am focusing on sticking to the same bed and wake up time, making daily to-do lists and keeping everything in order. It makes me feel more organized and productive in such a crazy time.

What is one thing you may be worried about during isolation?

I agree with @Hannah-RO! Now that we have been doing this for so long, I am quite nervous to go back to normal life. It is weird to think it might be over as quickly as it began and I will take normal life for granted again without learning from this experience!

@marlee

Fellow Victorian!!!

I find keeping a routine the most important part especially making my bed.

ohh, what types of games of fun ideas are you doing I could use some extra ideas.

That's so exciting, good luck with your course.

@marlee  that is so cool that you've enrolled in a new course! What is it? (If you don't mind sharing!)

Also themed dinner parties sound amaze Cat Tongue

I like what you and @LeapofFaith  are saying about routine, I think I am getting better at that and it's making things a bit more normal and manageable.

Thinking of you Victorians Heart
