Weekly Wellbeing: Saying yes and saying no!
Weekly Wellbeing
Hey everyone, happy middle of the week!
This week, I thought it could be interesting to do two rather different wellbeing tasks: saying yes and saying no to things
Sometimes we find ourselves always agreeing to do things with other people or for other people, when really, we might just want to spend the night curled up with a movie or a book instead!
It can be really draining when people take for granted the amount of effort you put in for them, and it can be hard to say no when you feel obligated to do something.
By the same token, we can also get into the habit of never saying yes to things, and miss out on a fun event or good opportunity as a result!
So for this week, two WW activities are:
1) Saying no to something/someone when you're really not feeling up to it or need some space to yourself (totally understand that this is hard sometimes, it doesn't have to be big! )
2) Say yes to something you might usually say 'nah' to, or where you might be hesitant to try something new, can be as simple or as big as you like too!
Keen to hear what you all try!
(you can say no to this one though
)

Great idea @ecla34 - I think it's one lots of people can relate to. I struggle to say no sometimes, but have gotten a lot better with age!

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Saying yes and saying no!
I absolutely love this thread @ecla34! I have always been a "yes" person, and learning to say "no" to things has been a really big learning curve (and complete yet!), but I'm getting there! Very good for wellbeing to say no sometimes! Learning to not feel guilty when I say no is probably the biggest hurdle for me
What do you find is the hardest part of saying no @MisoBear?

@Jess1-RO I don't like the idea of disappointing people. I'm getting better as I get older at setting boundaries (particularly with work and my family) but it's hard to say no to my friends or boyfriend sometimes.

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Saying yes and saying no!
Funnily has come at a really relevant time for me. I'm one for people-pleasing and notice myself saying yes to all social events, extra-curricular activities, extra work shifts ect.. I like being busy but I'm at the point in the trimester where all my assignments are becoming due so it is a high stress period and I absolutely need to take time for myself and not say yes to everything!
Next week I'm going to try and practice saying "no" to social events that I'm not feeling 100% like going to!
wish me luck.. !
