Weekly Wellbeing: Small Changes
Weekly Wellbeing: Small changes
Hey guys! Time for another Weekly Wellbeing activity!
A lot of the time we tend to focus on big changes that are occurring in our lives or that we want to see happen. Things like getting fit, changing jobs, and all the other things we like to put on our list of New Year's Resolutions
What's also really powerful though, is the impact that even tiny changes can have on your headspace! If you're tired or stressed big changes can sometimes take a back burner. But if you're stuck in a rut, a small change to your routine or environment can make you feel less blergh - even if just a little bit!
Random examples off the top of my head:
- having a big glass of water/juice
- opening your blinds etc. in the morning (the light- it burns!! 🧛♀️🧛♂️)
- changing your sheets! (i did this yesterday and i went to bed at 8:30 i was so excited about it)
- checking the news less frequently
- decluttering your study/workspace
- lighting a scented candle? i'm hitting a wall guys but you get the idea
Pretty much, if it takes less than 5 mins and usually makes you feel just that little bit better then it's worth giving it a shot when you're feeling a bit crappy!
So for this week:
1. What's something that doesn't take a lot of time, but that makes you feel better?
2. Is there a small change you can make this week (or even right now!), feel free to share any ideas in this thread!

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Small Changes
Thanks for this thread @ecla34 - I think this is so true! I actually took one of your suggestions and just opened the blinds and it is so lovely to get some sun in
Something that has helped me which I think is related to this is changing my thinking around errands to "if it takes less than five minutes, do it now." It's often a really small errand like sending off an email, paying a bill, putting on a load of washing etc, so if I think of something I need to do and it's possible - I do it right then and there! It helps me not let things pile up as much or forget about little tasks. And it's definitely a small change I've made that has made a big impact!
For today though...
1. What's something that doesn't take a lot of time, but that makes you feel better?
Putting on socks! Having toasty feet soothes my soul.
2. Is there a small change you can make this week (or even right now!)
I am going to take your suggestion @ecla34 and make sure that I open the blinds every day - it's definitely lifted the vibes

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Small Changes
Amazing examples!
1. What's something that doesn't take a lot of time, but that makes you feel better?
- Putting the blinds up EVERY MORNING and feeling that amazing sunshine on mah faceeee <3 and also doing the bed. Having that orderliness just satisfies something in me.
- drinking water throughout the day makes me feel good and less light-headed
- taking a break from technology like just 5 mins to wash the dishes will make me feel better
2. Is there a small change you can make this week (or even right now!), feel free to share any ideas in this thread!
- still working on this but judging myself less critically when im on social media. so it could be a simple thought in response to the judgemental thought. i think this could make me feel better during the day

Think about your current achievements and how far you have come in your journey.
Eat something delicious.
Look up to the stars at night and see how peaceful it looks.
Have a quick conversation with someone special.
Tell your loved ones that you love them.
Hug your animals.
Watch a funny video.

Set yourself a short term goals.
Treat yourself (my fave is ice cream or online shopping).

Make effort for people that you care about.
Remember to be kind to yourself.

Having a cup of tea with a juicy 20 minute YT video. That's a very specific combo, but there you go.

Hmmm...try out a new coffee/tea flavour or try a new kind of other hot beverage! Excite your senses.

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Small Changes
This is such a great activity! I've been trying to incorporate more short feel-good activities in my life and writing down which ones I'd like to keep doing.
1. What's something that doesn't take a lot of time, but that makes you feel better?
- Doing a short meditation.
- Reflecting or writing down a happy memory.
- Smiling for a few minutes.
- Tensing and relaxing my muscles for a few minutes.
- Listening to upbeat music.
- Imagining a happy place.
- Playing a relaxing game.
- Doing some stretches.
- Breathing in and out in time with an animation or app.
- Gratitude journaling.
- Looking at pictures of my family and things that I like.
- Grounding exercises.
- Putting on favourite perfumes.
2. Is there a small change you can make this week (or even right now!), feel free to share any ideas in this thread!
Something I have been trying to do is doing more of my hobbies on the weekends, rather than doing a lot of work. I'm also going to try to sleep a few hours earlier tonight and I will try to get out of the house and do some exercise for an hour or two next week.

Re: Weekly Wellbeing: Small Changes
Getting involved as this is super important to reflect on because small changes can and often do lead to big ones. They tend to have a knock on effect. It's like that song "From little things, big things grow"
1. What's something that doesn't take a lot of time, but that makes you feel better?
- Drinking a big glass of water as soon as I wake up
- Stretching a little in the morning or before bed
- Reading. It struggle with concentration so one or two pages is enough for me.
- Taking my puppy for a walk to the park
- Having a snack
- Calling someone that makes me feel better, even for a quick chat
- Listening to my fave songs.
2. Is there a small change you can make this week (or even right now!), feel free to share any ideas in this thread!
- I'm going to make sure I have a herbal tea before bed every night this week to help me sleep

Going for a walk, stretching, cuddling my cats, journaling, drinking water

I've noticed I've started some anxious habits again (e.g. biting my damn nails) so I think I should try and stop that! Another small change- trying to get out of the house most days even if it's only for a little bit.
