Thank you for sharing your situation with the ReachOut community. It takes a lot of courage to be so open and I wanted to acknowledge that. 💛

I can't imagine how difficult it must be to process all of this, considering you were a part of that group for two years and have recently found out that the last member you were in contact has been talking about you behind your back. In the past I have also experienced a toxic friend group and it took me a while to put myself back together again after the fallout. Looking back on it, while painful in the moment, I'm grateful that I chose to distance myself from them because it gave me the space to think about the values that I admire in friendships and believe I deserve to be surrounded by.

It can be challenging moving forward and being kind to ourselves when going through such a hard time. As impossible as it can seem to feel it now, please know that you are worthy of having amazing people around you. It takes time to develop strong and trusting friendships. Given how important connection is to you I'm wondering whether you've considered finding clubs in the community or even school/university depending on your study level? It can be a great way to find like-minded individuals and even make lifelong friendships.

In the meantime, when feeling overwhelmed, I find it helps to practice self care. This doesn't have to be anything big. The smallest of things, such as going on a walk or playing with my dog, really help to calm and distract me. Do you find that anything has been helpful in the past when things have been tough? I find it helpful to write down a list and work through it one by one.
