Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

Hey @scared01, I imagine being given a diagnosis would be a big thing to adjust to. What do you think this might mean for you?

And how do you think you could process it - maybe writing out your feelings could help?

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

@letitgo yes it was quite a shocker. i dont really know what to make of it. i knew i had the anxieties, depression and complex ptsd but i wouldnt have thought i have a personality disorder.

maybe becasue when i think of it i automatically think DID- dissosiative identity disorder where you actually have different personalities. but im still me, i dont change personalities.

i dont really know where to go from here. the psych team has put me on a waiting list to see one of there DBT therapists and also a group DBT therapy. they will still continue to monitor me as they think i needed abit more time in there.

she said to keep going to my psychologist and to keep practicing my coping strategies

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

Dear Scared01,

You are not alone.  Thank you for your bravery in getting and accepting your diagnosis.  Our psychiatrist told me on Friday last week that he thinks my wife is BPD.  Suddenly my whole world changed.

I want to help my wife to feel less invisible and more cared for.

I Hope that our psychiatrist will think she is ready to learn about her diagnosis soon.  And hope that she can be as brave as you have been to accept your diagnosis.

BPD is very treatable if you accept your condition and seek help.  it wont be easy.  But you can feel better.

I wish you all the best.  And hope for you and my wife a better and happier future.

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

Hey @scared01, being diagnosed with BPD is a pretty big deal, and I think it would help if you took as much time as you needed to process it. Definitely think about your coping strategies.

How are you feeling about the diagnosis now, and the upcoming DBT? When will you be starting it?

and what makes you say that @Lopjorkh

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

im ok @safari93 the diagnosis actually explains alot of things and why i act the way i do etc

DBT wont start for at least 4 months maybe more so until then jsut gotta either find a private one or get my current psychologist to help me out abit more

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

@scared01 those sound like some good options, let us know how they go!

FYI I've removed the post about BPD not being real, I think that person is some kind of troll since they've posted elsewhere with offensive comments. It seems like this is just one of a bunch of them

Re: Borderline Personality Disorder

thanks @safari93

id like to know their reason behind their thoughts.

ive been diagnosed by a QUALIFIED team of specialists so id take their word over whatever is said here with remarks like that.
