Has anyone ever had experience using ongoing counselling websites such as Kids Helpline?

Hi everyone. Mods, if this isn't in an appropriate thread, feel free to move it.

Just wondering if anyone has ever used ongoing counselling services online such as Kids Helpline, etc? If so, what did you think?

I've only used Kids Helpline once, the lady gave me her name and she was nice, caring and helpful so I liked it. Every other time I've tried to get through I never can and they don't reply to emails plus I prefer the live chat and I don't like talking over the phone.

I've also looked at Beyond Blue web chats, etc. too. Does anyone know any other websites that offer counselling like that?

I did a Mindspot course which I didn't find helpful but others mind, since my Psychiatrist recommended I should. I found it boring, useless and unhelpful but that's just my opinion.

Thanks, please let me know as I'm interested in doing something like that since I can't get local professional help apart from my Psychiatrist and GP.

hey @musicfan_xo
I have used KHL as an onoing service. I used them weekly and arranged it with the same counsellor (instead of getting random people) I found it to be quite helpful especially since I had no supports at all. I used them ongoing for maybe 2 months or so and then I found some supports so just started to chat with the counsellor when I found I needed to but she gave me the option that I could continue weekly sessions as well.
They can link in with your gp and/or psychiatrist as well if you choose to but you can also just leave the convos you have between yourself and the counsellor

Sorry @musicfan_xo I actually did miss this tag..
I also have an on going counsellor at kids helpline and like @scared01, I talk to her weekly. The sessions are around an hour and you can switch between phone, email or web counseling. If you don’t like the counsellor you have or don’t find it helpful, you are welcome to speak to someone else. You can even try speaking with like 5 counsellors to choose which one you’d like to continue with! I love talking to my counsellor and I would highly recommend trying kids helpline out Smiley Happy there’s also eheadspace which offer the same thing but if I have to be completely honest, I would not recommend. Their service is a bit confusing where you have an actual account and I found it hard to get around that, the chats were saved on the account which I didn’t want to see the ones I was in distress and the main thing I didn’t like was they cut off your access with their service when you were connected other support. But one good thing about this service I guess was you could book web chat/ phone appointments in advance, though these appointments were 2 weeks apart. With kids helpline you couldn’t do that, you get told when your counsellor is working and hope that they’re available when you try. Otherwise they will tell you how long they will be. You can request a callback with kids helpline if you request for that same day though.

@musicfan_xo it’s okay, I have done the exact same thing in the past unfortunately.. it’s really important to be clear with your words on the forums because I have worried people, with them thinking I’m about to take my life but actually meaning I was taking a break for a couple weeks. I can’t imagine how concerned they were, not hearing from me for that long. I am happy to hear from you, please just take this experience into consideration next time you would like to take a break Heart we’re here for you and your safety is so incredibly important to us! I’m just happy you are back Smiley Happy

@Bananatime04 I deeply apologise if I upset you and anybody else (I won't tag them just to be safe), I hope I didn't. What I meant by "bye" was that I was taking a break myself, but I'm so sorry

I know what you meant now and it’s okay Heart don’t stress! I’ve done it before and all that matters is that you’re safe Smiley Happy
