Re: coping with pressures and expectations
@scared01 The Gastroenterology Society of Australia(Gesa) is where I found it. Once we know if it's OK to link it, I'll do so. If not, search for it on google. It's under 'patient information' on their website. I find it takes the stress out of appointments because it also has questions doctors could ask you so you can prepare.

Re: coping with pressures and expectations
@scared01 I'm logging off now. It's been a long day of study for me and I need an early night. I'll check in with you tomorrow.

Re: coping with pressures and expectations
That's perfectly fine @scared01. Juggling ongoing medical appointments/tests alongside the tasks of everyday life can be difficult and draining, especially since your schedule isn't you own a lot of the time. What support do you have available to help you after the surgery? Would staying in hospital to help get you back on your feet be a possibility? Talk to the specialist/surgical team and social worker and see what can be arranged.
Long appointments can be challenging both emotionally and physically as its hard to stay focused whilst keeping emotions at bay but they also allow you to really go over everything and clarify things which is a huge help. How are you feeling about the surgery? How did you go with 'question builder', was it useful? I hope the wait isn't too long and surgery goes as smoothly as possible.
You're doing a good job of handling everything, try to go easy on yourself

Re: coping with pressures and expectations
the question builder was ok, though most of my questions and more come during the appointment with the surgeon. I still have to see the anaethatist though in december which they will be abe to answer more of my questions such as fasting, recovery time etc. it was a huge appointment and its not over yet. things are happening rather quickly actually, the surgury will be in late january or early feb. ill find out more at the next appointment.
I wont be stayin in hospital overnight even though i kinda wish i was, however that may change depending on what the rest of the surgical team says and which hospital ill be going to. (theres 2 possible options so they are taking a better look to see which is better and which one will have the more appropriate resources for me.
i wont really have supports after it, ill be taking care of myself and then i just see the surgeon and dentist again 2 weeks later for a check up etc.

Re: coping with pressures and expectations
Thanks for the feedback @scared01. I hadn't thought of that. I'm glad the timing has worked out so you can get it done sooner rather than later. Have you had a chance to work on the blanket? Crochet and I don't get along- it's hard with limited dexterity!
