reframing exersise (eggs)

i was going through some of my old notes through uni and i found a really good reframing exersie to sort of see were your protritys are and where your energy is going . ok this is how it works you get twelve eggs or any object will do or you can visualise it in your head . each egg represents your effort and energy now divide the eggs into the different sections of your life for example it could be work ,uni work , personal fitness , reach out where ever you spend your time for example mine would be

3 eggs into work

2 eggs into skateboarding and filming

2 into my social life

4 into family life

1 reach out

for example family life is so many eggs a third because of the recent illness in my family but with in the next couple of months it will be down to about 2 or three units of my energy which ill put into personal fitness. try it you would be suprised on what you come up with

Re: reframing exersise (eggs)

Wow I love this idea. Works so much better with eggs that percentages huh? Mine would have to be:

4 - family (I've got little kids, who take up most of my energy.)
4 - work
2 - life "admin"
1.5 - friends
.5 - me time. Not enough Smiley Sad

I might move this to a better board than Tough Times, as I think it's more helpful/useful in another area.. hope that's ok!

Re: reframing exersise (eggs)

yeah it works really well when u have the actual eggs and stuff

Re: reframing exersise (eggs)

oh i like this idea, it's like Spoon theory (http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/) but more practical.

Now I have to think about my eggs... hmmm....

5 into work - because that's really important to me (in terms of finances and stability) atm.
3 into roller derby because I love it and I've only just started and it's good for my fitness, getting out and meeting new people and just heaps of FUN!
2 on other 'me' time and exercise and self improvement
2 on family & friends & socialising

Thanks for sharing this, Switch Smiley Very Happy
