Hey @delicatedreamer ! Welcome !

Dude, who needs a partner when you have a dress?! But  that's awesome that your graduation was a pretty special occasion!

Going to the formal is not for everyone. What are other ways to celebrate the end of Year 12?

We had a book burning in my backyard the night after the last exam. There was something incredibly cathartic about seeing all those notes go up in flames.

Re: [CHAT] Formal date dramas

We should have asked our dates out via acrostic poems!

Re: [CHAT] Formal date dramas

After party is a good way to celebrate @florenceforever - i think a few people do miss the formal but go and hang out with their friends afterwards. it's a bit more low key for those who want to escape the "school" type atmosphere (cos teachets etc usually attend the formal)

Lots of people I know actually used schoolies to celebrate the end of year 12 instead of the formal. This was easier for them because it was done after exams were over and didn't require as much planning of dates, dress codes etc.

You know, if I could go back in time, I would've just thrown a Games night with some friends and cooked dinner. Wait, no. I can't do that! That's for adult me! Ok, anyway...In my hometown, it's a tradition for your Year 12 cohort to go to the beach and just run amok along the shore. Wild and free, I say, wild and free! There's also people signing yearbooks and uniform shirts to mark the occasion Smiley Happy

Re: [CHAT] Formal date dramas

Aw good for you @Billy-RO ! I had someone I wanted to ask (And I think he wanted to ask me too!) but we were both too shy!! Missed opportunity. Would definitely go for it if I had my time over again, but the idea of being rejected at 17 was waaaaaay to big a deal hahaha.

One of my dear friends and I had a pamper day to celebrate finishing - went shopping, ate lots of yummy food, got a massage, went for dinner... It was excellent Smiley Happy. Except that I got food poisoning, which was definitely NOT excellent haha! (I am still dubious about eating Indian food to this day haha)

A games night would have been amazing fun @Myvo !

Re: [CHAT] Formal date dramas

@Myvo the beach thing sounds similar to muck up day in a way. that's another end of year celebration!
