Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

My coping strategies usually involve talking to my friends and family, exercising, going out for drinks and socialising, art, and listening to music. Also the thinking time allocation i was talking about before Smiley Happy

Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

I do a combination of things:

- Write down what needs to be done and prioritise that list

- Write down what is bothering me and causing me anxiety

- Go for a walk. Not for exercise, but to clear my head. No times, no workout playlist. Just me and some calming music

- Read my book if I can concentrate

- Talk out whatever is bothering me with my friends

- Play cards and board games (mainly scrabble) with my Mum

Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

You guys seem like you're all good at this coping stuff! My coping strategy is harder for some people than others, but - positive thinking. Seems simple, but having a positive outlook on things can make difficult situations seem a lot simpler, and it makes it easier to let go of things that don't matter. I'm one of the only ones at my work who can keep is cool 99% of the time - I like to think positive thinking helps!

Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

When going through tough times, we tend to get a bit stressed, upset, angry, or anxious. What kinds of techniques can we use to deal with these emotions?

- Talk to someone about what you are going through (family, friend, teacher, colleague, counsellor etc. - someone you can trust basically)

- Exercise

- Mindfulness practice

- Writing it down.

- Use thought challenging techniques (e.g. look for positives in negatives or check if you are falling into a negative think trap [e.g. all or nothing thinking])

- Engage in valued hobbies or leisure activities to help you relax and take your mind off things.

- Find a way to deal with the problem (if you can) that will reduced the anger/anxiety/stress.

- Express emotions through a creative outlet (e.g. music, art, dance etc.)

Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

I find positive thinking really hard. I either forget to do it or it frustrates me. But I know that it can be really beneficial for lots of people! One of my friends uses daily affirmations and they work really well for her.

Reading and board games are great ones @florenceforever! I love those too Smiley Happy

Re: [CHAT] Life hacks for coping with tough times

Sorry to hear that  @j95 . I had pizza for dinner too. I made it all by myself (I'm a notoriously bad cook) and only burnt myself once!
