I quite like your points about rumination and worrying about problems, a lot of them exist in the past or future.

 

Is part of mindfullness accepting the tough stuff and the intense feelings too?

@Ben-RO yes, absolutely. If the moment is difficult, then being mindful is learning to sit with and accept the difficulty of that moment wholly. Because it is, at the end of the day, a moment. It's part of accepting reality... "this moment sucks, and that's okay".

YES!, I think an important part of mindfulness is being honest with yourself and being completely aware of what you're going through now and maybe even making peace with the intense feelings. I wonder if it works kind of like exposure therapy, where you face intense feelings and the more you become aware of them, the less they affect you.

With my recent tough time, I noticed that those of us who actively use mindfulness in our everyday lives are coping better than those who don't. It really was an eye opener.

And ever since seeking help, I've used it to help me deal with intense feelings.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: It didn't go as planned and that's okay. ツ

what are some usual and unsusal things you have used or heard of someone using to be mindful?

 

Usual things:

Smiling mind

Headspace (the app, not the place you can go to)

Guided meditations (we do them at work sometimes) 

 

Unusual things:

Cooking

Bike riding

Eating

Mindful music

Mindful conversations and listening

I haven't heard anything weird hmm..
