I think the day is what you make it... i understand buying into the commercialism is a bit naughty BUT who dosent love a bit of an excuse to eat chocolate and watch a movie

Re: Is cupid your homeboy or just rhymes with stupid?

I don't usually do anything for Valentine's day. I had dinner with some friends once in high school though which was nice Smiley Happy. All my friends have boyfriends at the moment so I think I'll just be chilling at home this year.

EDIT: Actually, I might go to San Churros with my sister - that would be fun!

> In general, I get the feeling that there is some difference in expectations for males and females. There's the stereotype that some women want to be showered with gifts, taken out to dinner at a nice/fancy restaurant and maybe even anticipate some sort of marriage proposal. I think that some guys may feel the pressure in having to meet up to those expectations that their significant other may have. But then again, expectations may vary from person to person so there could be guys and gals out there that have similar expectations on what they want their Valentine's Day to be.

What does being in a relationship mean to you?

It means having someone who cares about you as much as you care about them. Note the use of care, not love. You can be in a relationship as friends, not lovers. People use the word love so often sometimes it just looses meaning, having someone care about you is what a relationship means to me.

What do you think of labeling (making things “Facebook official”) - “boyfriend”, or “girlfriend”. Or are all relationships in the category “its complicated”?

I've accepted the fact that humankind's second nature is to put labels to things. It will never change, not for a long time at least, and little you do will make much difference to the labels. What you can do is just accept them and move on, to not dwell on "are we boyfriend and girlfriend?" or along the lines of that.

I don't think all relationships are in the category of "its complicated" though because many people have healthy, clear relationships and know. They don't need to tell anyone or label their relationships because it's there. Plain and simple.

What makes relationships different to friendships? When do you face the “so are you guys dating” question?

Friendships are relationships. They're the relationships that don't involve all that romance stuff and stuff.  Friendships are multiple people caring about each other without the need for romance. As for the second question there, I've never been in a romantic relationship, so most of this comes from my observations, but it's really no one else's business as to how far a relationship is progressing. They'll find out by observation or if you feel like telling them, "hey, we're dating." But really, it doesn't matter whether or not you tell someone else if you are dating someone. It really doesn't.

if you are in an established relationship,  how do you know you are in a healthy relationship? What makes a relationship good or bad?

I think a healthy relationship is one where both partners understand each other. There will be arguments, small fights, it's a way of life really, but you know when to quit in a healthy relationship. You air it out then continue with your life. When you care about the other person as much as they care about you, it's healthy because you both respect each other in a way only you and your partner understand. A bad relationship is both obvious then hardly noticeable until it's too late. A bad relationship can frequent in fights (more than just arguments or disagreements) and have more feelings of hate while a good relationship has an equal of both good and bad feelings towards each other, even moreso of good.

What does valentines day mean to you?

To me, valentines day is February 14th of whatever year we are in. It is a day where I watch people interact (and at school, watch people getting roses) and wonder if I'll ever be in a relationship. Then I forget about it because it doesn't matter to me, I don't need someone to be in a relationship with because I already have people who care about me and who I care about.

So, then what do you do on Valentines Day? Whether you are single or in a relationship? Group dinner, date night etc (I heard EloiseRose write valentines day cards to my best friends and post them!)

I go home after school and do my normal routine like it's the 13th or the 15th. Nothing special.

I think that it's all different and some are the same. I mean, some men and women can have similar expectations while others are completely different.

Sorry this is so long too, I kind of forgot about this tonight, then I thought I'll just answer some questions before bed. It took longer than I thought it would.
