Totally agree @basketofmonkeys! Several times I've accidentally responded to an old post because I've opened up the thread expecting to be taken to the most recent post but instead I'm  somewhere in the middle of the thread, if that makes sense...

Also, not having to refresh the page in order to see new responses in the moment (e.g. in these GR's) would be handy

Aaaaaaand, on the subject of improvements....

Are there any other features you'd like added to the website?

There should be a page navigation on the bottom of posts on mobile, otherwise I really like it. It's cool now that I can post way more from my mobile.

I haven't gone through the website much yet so don't know how to improve it.

Really keen to hear the answer to the next question!

Next question...

How can we make it more accessible/relatable for you/your peers?

originally posted on 10-07-2017 9:06 PM

Hmmm... I think it's already pretty relatable. Like the language used on the site really caters to the age group. One thing I forgot to mention before was that a link to the forums isn't immediately obvious. Like, you have to click "join the discussion" etc. to actually get to the forums. So I guess a more direct link that takes you straight to the forums might make it easier for new people to find us.

Does that make sense?

I've found An error page comes up when it auto logs you out and the only goes away when you log back in.
Is this just me/just mobile site.

Definitely not just you @redhead have added it to the big list of things to fix

Hmm that error is something to do with crappy cookies... i think @redhead if you browse in incognito you can do it without the error, not perfect but still a workaround for now!

So here's the question again and perhaps a translation.

How can we make it more accessible/relatable for you/your peers?

Translation:
What could we do to help more people use the forums?

I agree with @letitgo having the forums more noticeable and accessible on the main page.

How to get more people?
I personally need to be less scared of new people. I like the hang intro stuff, that helps

It would be cool if users could write a mini bio in their profile to introduce themselves (within guidelines of course)

@letitgo that's one of reasons why I've not invited friends. It's hard to remain completely anonymous

Nice translation @Ben-RO.

I think that ironically, the anonymity might be one reason for people not recommending the forums to friends. e.g. I've recommended it to them, but then realised that anyone who knew me could easily figure out who I am through various details I've mentioned, and I imagine other people might have the same reservations about inviting people they know to use the forums. Just an observation, not really a suggestion... Sorry!

I agree with @letitgo about the anonymity thing.

It's a really good point @letitgo like the people who like it the most are usually the best at showing new people... i wonder if we could do covert forum recommendations? Like we could make stickers and put them on toilet doors at schools and unis 😛

"Having a tough time? Go to forums.au.reachout.com and talk about it now"

I do not condone this idea in any way 😛

Is there a way we can tackle this anonymity conundrum ?

originally posted on 10-07-2017 9:29 PM

@Ben-RO I guess it depends on the person and how much they've shared about themselves plus who they tell. If you've shared a fair bit about yourself then you do feel like anyone you tell will be able to recognise you. I guess doing things through schools can reach a fair few young people as well as unis and maybe large workplace chains. Still doesn't solve the anonymity thing but it's an idea I guess.

originally posted on 10-07-2017 9:33 PM

@Ben-RO just a question how do you tell what's read and what's not on mobile.

And no idea about autonomy. I'm guilty of sharing too much personal info. Sometimes I share more here than Facebook

In regards to anonymity @Ben-RO, I don't exactly share much about myself (although I probably share more than I would my real-life friends :P), but I'm pretty easy to spot out, especially if you already know me.

How can the ReachOut forums  best help YOU???

How can the ReachOut forums  best help YOU???

This is a bit more general than me individually but I guess keep encouraging people to seek support and reinforce the idea of it being okay to seek support.  Make sure everyone gets a reply and a follow up.
