Do you think your pets match your personality?
I don't know about that. I would say we're both fairly neurotic and highly strong (lol) but with frankie I almost feel a bit like she is part of my personality-when she's around I feel more like myself, happier and care free 🙂 She adds to who I am.

My partner and I have this ongoing joke that our two dogs perfectly match us. The golden retriever is like me. She liks to just hang and cuddle or go for a run and she's really like intune emotionally. The english bulldog X staffy is a bit more stubborn haha and likes to just do his own thing (like my partner)

YES! I am super introverted. I like to just chill, sleep, watch movies, eat etc. My cats are totally chill, they just wanna hang out. I love dogs but I feel like they're too bouncy and crazy for me to live with haha

Has your pet helped you make positive changes in your life? How so?
I think one of the most positive ways pets can influence our lives is that they give us someone else's needs and motives to focus on other than our own. Sometimes I think we can be our own worst enemy--by stepping outside our own needs and wants to care for another it can give us great perspective and help us care for ourselves.

She's made exercising (like running) fun! And makes me want to go outside because it's so nice to just spend time with her.

Do you think your pets match your personality?
Hmmm...I do have my fave breeds etc. and when i think about getting a dog, @jvkn , i think it has to be one that loves being active like me! And very playful! And always ready for a tussle and pat and hug. And one that would like to listen to me talk!! As i love to talk!!! LOL!!!
But i mean that in a good way. And i like that bond you get - this understanding, them looking into your eyes and you give these commands, and they know you are their master.... it's so loving that kind of a bond.
Mum's little lhasa apso on the other hand would growl even at HER !! lol
I think it thought that HE was the boss of the house!

@Platypus23 It's good to know which breeds you'll be compatible with because they're going to be your friends for a really long time so its good to have the same interests as your pets. I too loved having an energetic pet... he always kept me active 🙂sometimes it rains, sometimes it shines, this is how flowers grow

@jvkn + @Platypus23 just don't place too much emphasis on breed specific traits though. Having worked in an animal shelter rehoming dogs for 4 years I think it's much better to go with an individual dog approach--some dogs can be really lazy, some can be very active...regardless of breed!

You should get a german shorthaired pointer @Platypus23 haha. Frankie needs about 4-5 hours of exercise a day and LOVES to play 🙂

Absolutely @lanejane & @Student94. I managed to fall over at the dog park five months ago and break my leg (oops) but because I had Frankie I had to get up and go to the park everyday (ended up doing it in a wheelchair). It was a hell of a lot of hard work, but each day the effort of doing that made me feel proud and happy, and it stopped me from going stir crazy stuck in bed for six months!
