Motivation! What is it good for?
Well actually motivation and goal setting is really important! Without it we had have no direction in life, no idea of where to go or what we want to achieve. If we don't set motivating goals then we end up aimlessly walking around questioning why we aren't getting anywhere.
But how do we go about setting these goals? Join us on Monday the 20th March at 8pm AEDT to find out, or click Reply to start the conversation now!
Ray, when you're on the Titanic, you load the lifeboats. You don't stop to yell at the iceberg.

Do you find making goals helps you to feel motivated? Do you stick to them?Having a goal tends to keep the motivation momentum going. I try to stick to my goals.

Do you think inspiration is the same as motivation and can be harnessed in the same way?Inspiration seems to come easier to me than motivation, but I use it to get motivated. If I'm not inspired what I'm doing motivation seems harder.

Hey guys, sorry I lost track of time 🙂originally posted on 20-03-2017 8:16 PM
Hey guys. Sorry I'm late!!!
When is a time that you've been really motivated to work towards something?
I started NaNoWriMo for the first time in the November that just went and I was super motivated to write and work towards the goal of getting 50,000 words written. Since I started in the last week of November, I didn't succeed, but I've made it to that word count since and I was determined that I was going to get there before February of this year, which I did.

Where do you think your motivation came from? Did you motivation waiver? As @lokifish said - helping other people is a big motivator. I do have some sort of internal motivation to do really well at Uni and when I was in VCE although I'm not really sure where it comes from beyond wanting to get into things later down the track and the satisfaction you get from doing well on assignments. Having other people around you going through the same things is also a huge motivator - solidarity 🙂
My motivation does waver - that's what deadlines are for I suppose 😉
@Ben-RO love that graph! They showed it to us in first year psychology! Unfortunately most of the time I think I am in both ends of the distress at simultaneously.....not sure how that works.

Thanks @tomo_13! It has definitely motivated me to keep writing. I've got a few ideas for other novels but I haven't started them yet. Uni has been getting in the way. But I intend to take part in NaNo again this year, so we'll see...
Writing is definitely something I'm interested in. I used to write all the time until I lost confidence for a while. It's felt great to get back into it.

Yep that can happen it often depends on the task we are getting motivated to do. Although if we're more wound up, it's harder to do complex tasks, but we might be super motivated to do simpler tasks.

Well in year 9 I was working on a project to help other kids report cases of bullying, and it was a big project that took me almost three months, so I would say that that was one of the times I have been really, REALLY motivated.originally posted on 20-03-2017 8:07 PM

....Shortly before my assignments are due 😛
I do struggle with motivation a lot but I guess when it is something I am really passionate about I am more motivated 🙂

@Ben-RO I would probably say what the project did that motivated me. I knew this is going to help people, so I really wanted to get it done for them. But also I'm motivated to reducing bullying so that was also a big motivating point.
