Motivation! What is it good for?
Well actually motivation and goal setting is really important! Without it we had have no direction in life, no idea of where to go or what we want to achieve. If we don't set motivating goals then we end up aimlessly walking around questioning why we aren't getting anywhere.
But how do we go about setting these goals? Join us on Monday the 20th March at 8pm AEDT to find out, or click Reply to start the conversation now!
Ray, when you're on the Titanic, you load the lifeboats. You don't stop to yell at the iceberg.

When is a time that you've been really motivated to work towards something?
Hmmm... I find that I can get motivated to start lots of things - sticking with them long-term is the issue for me 😛 I've used motivation to work towards a uni degree, buy my first car and get help for my mental health issues 🙂

I just get short bursts of motivation that pop up from nowhere. Generally during SACs (assessments) that I have to do in class because if I fail I'll get close to having to redo the year level.

Here is a nerdy curve that kinda explains how stress helps, or doesn't help your motivation based on how much of it there is!

It sounds like we've found that motivation can come from lots of different places. Which leads us to our next question:
Where do you think your motivation came from? Did you motivation waiver?

Where do you think your motivation came from? Did you motivation waiver? For me a lot of my motivation comes from within myself. I know that with my project I wanted to finish it so it can help other people, but I also felt something *within* to get it done, and I fell that a lot with a lot of projects and tasks I do.

My motivation came from a couple of different things, one of them is stress. The random graph i shared basically says that there's a certain amount of stress that is actually really good, it gets too low and we just kinda don't get motivated, but also too much aint too good too. So when I'm motivated i generally have enough stress to help me feel motivated but not so much that i feel like i'm overwelmed and can't think straight. The other thing is wanting the thing to happen. So for example with study, if i don't see the point to doing a subject, like it won't help me discover more about what i care about or I can't see how it will help me do better at the things i want to do, it's very hard for me to get motivated to do it.
