@Anonymous You are always welcome on here. 🙂 Sometimes, some of us take breaks for a few weeks or months, but they are always welcome to come back when they feel like returning.

Sorry for my slow replies everyone. In terms of professionals:
Well, my Psychiatrist helps, when I can see him that is, I only see him once a month though which is hard, feels like an eternity, especially this time. I'm too scared to ask him if I can see him more because I don't want to invade his privacy and sound pushy, selfish and demanding. I can't win, sigh.
In terms of services, Lifeline is one I've found to be alright. It depends. The last time I talked to Lifeline it made me feel a little better, which was yesterday or something, I can't remember.

3. I guess I don’t really turn to anyone unless I need to.Normally, I try and problem solve the situation. But if I can’t come to a solution, then I’ll go to someone special to figure things out. Or depending on the situation, I’ll find help elsewhere.

Such an important GR topic!!
Reading through everyone's responses really speaks volumes about everyone's resilience and resourcefulness here! It can be really hard to problem solve when things go wrong, so I think this will also be a super useful resource for members who are struggling to do know what to do when things are tough.

@JazzInMay The same thing happened to me! I got three postgraduate interviews last year. Two were a no and one never got back to me, so I called them this week and they said everyone had already enrolled. The year before, I also got rejected after an interview.
It makes me wonder what they are looking for. Employers have told me they have no idea how I haven't gone onto further study with my grades and experience. I was starting to think that maybe they wanted paid work because my experience in the field was extensive volunteering and non-university courses. I'm trying to apply for related paid work now, but it's really hard for me to find. I get told that my resume is very comprehensive and impressive and I have great references, but in the end they don't proceed after interviewing me. Here's hoping I find something soon! 🙂

Can you think of a time when something's gone wrong? Maybe something didn't go to plan or an unexpected complication cropped up that made things difficult. What was your initial reaction?
Ugh a basic but pesty problem is with sudden changes to my uni timetable. I have to negotiate with different people locations at work, home, volunteering and travel time around all these unforeseen amendments. It's stressful and awkward and I fear it makes me look unprofessional even though it's beyond my control, but I'm trying my best not to waste energy and just explain the situation as best and as appropriately as I can to everyone I need to.

@Tay100 I relate to that so strongly, when I was studying we had a few total stuff - ups which made everyone's lives so much more stressful, especially when most students are juggling uni, paid work, family commitments, volunteering, and commuting onto campus.
I think your strategy to overcome that is super sensible. My biggest stuff-ups as a student when I was a brand new uni student trying to juggle work and uni were when I just tried to somehow 'make things work' when I really should have gone to work and said I needed changes to be made, I would always end up stressed out, and doing ridiculous things like working until midnight and then trying to write an essay when I got home. Definitely not a recipe for success!!!! It's amazing how understanding people usually are when you let them know about problems as soon as you can, and I think it's actually demonstrating that you're mature enough to have those tricky conversations, which is something you need to be able to do all the time in professional environments. So good on you. You're definitely doing much better than I did when I was a uni student the first time around!
One of my recent self-care strategies has been watching the US series of The Office because I never actually saw it (I loved the UK one too much so never got into the US one) - so I LOVE your GIF!

Our lives are literally juggling acts huh! And I tend to do the same, I'll pick a light TV show and become attached to it for 2 weeks.

I definitely try and be self-aware and plan my self-care routine in advance, that way when I become stressed about a problem I can just go on autopilot and do it. For example, if I'm stressed about uni, I try and plan out time to get stuff done and then plan a nice treat yo'self study break afterwards.

I don't really know what my coping stategies are to cope and resolve problems.
I guess I talk to places like Lifeline etc on their web chats when I feel like it, I try to as much as I can. And come on these forums aswell as the Beyond Blue and SANE ones, they're all great and they help me a little. I hope I've helped others on all of the forums too.
Walking is nice sometimes, which I do daily. Just taking in the scenery and the smells (such as Eucalyptus trees, I love that smell) and breathing in the air can be nice, and seeing bird life etc around.
Colouring in can be fun and relaxing at times, in a book or playing an app I have on my iPad which is free called Happy Colour which is a Colour By Numbers App.
Other than that I don't really have any, I'm bad with this stuff and I don't really know, sorry everyone. @ecla34 @WheresMySquishy @xXLexi_Lou122Xx @Janine-RO @Tay100

@Anonymous I have Happy Colour too! But I don’t really use it...I tend to use the Bible Colouring app, which is pretty good, but it’s only good if you’re religious or believe in similar stuff.

2. I don't really have any strategies really. Depending on the situation, I'll find a way around the problem. That's really the only way you can do anything. And I guess I'm just used to it.Looking forward to everyone else's coping methods!

Can you think of a time when something's gone wrong? Maybe something didn't go to plan or an unexpected complication cropped up that made things difficult. What was your initial reaction?
As I've posted about previously on here, I recently got sick and was totally out of action for more than a month. I couldn't go to my volunteering and I'm pretty sure that potential employers were scared off by me explaining why I couldn't meet with them. I also couldn't do any physical caring tasks. I only really left the house to go to hospital, medical appointments and an interview, but I had to get someone to come with me to those places because I couldn't walk long distances. My second surgery was also cancelled at the last minute (while I was about to be put to sleep!) because they thought that I had an infection. So I had to wait another week, when I could barely walk and was in pain and discomfort. The whole process took over 42 or 43 days from when I first developed symptoms to when I was free of pain and able to do more. Even now, I still have some more tests to do and I get tired easily.
I remember getting very frustrated after my surgery was cancelled. They could have told me they suspected an infection before I came in, since they had the results two days in advance. I was angry that my life was totally on hold. I think the waiting times for people undergoing these kinds of surgeries are a joke, especially as having a stent can cause a lot of side effects. One of my family members met someone who was told they had to wait over three months between surgeries, and another person who needed four surgeries!
I think it would have been a total nightmare if I was still studying at uni/school or working.

Sounds terrible, traumatic and hard @WheresMySquishy , I'm sorry you went through that and still are sort of as you mentioned. I know how scary tests are and whatnot, well sort of although as you know we had different experiences, but I get what you mean. I hope everything improves for you mentally and physically.
But despite that, you and everyone on the forums are strong inside and out I think. I mean joining these forums is brave enough, but to post your story/stories is also courageous, so well done everyone xx

Thank you so much for the kind words @Anonymous.
I don't think the tests will show anything serious. I think it has to do with a family history of the problem, but for some reason, I was more affected. I was told there is a high chance of this happening to me again, so every one and a half years, I have to have a scan and they also have to work out how to prevent it in the future. I have been told I might have to change my diet (there's a bunch of foods I now have to avoid) and go on a tablet. There's even been talk about them doing another investigation under anaesthetic so that they can look at what else showed up on the CT scan I had.
It's just exhausting having to go through all these appointments and investigations. I was being treated for another chronic condition at the same time and now I have to do even more things. I'm glad that these specialists at least want to follow up with me and work out a solution though. My sister once had a procedure under anaesthetic and her doctor didn't even want to follow up with her afterwards despite him putting her on a bunch of different medications.
