[CHAT] What holds you back?
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not"
Confidence is having a belief in yourself and what you are capable of. Although it’s all in our heads, confidence and be brought on by a lot of things; wearing a particular thing, being with certain people, feeling motivated and excited or sometimes just having a trinket with you… for me, it’s my lucky elephant, which I’ve taken on stage with me when I sing or play music.
Sometimes, though, we can have low self-confidence, that’s ok, it happens to everyone….. but that doesn’t make it suck any less. There are ways around it though,
How can we challenge this?
What makes us confident? Is it different for everyone? Join us at on Monday, 7th July, 8pm AEST to find out!!!
See you then!!
this is definately not the most confusing interactive interface for young people đŸ˜•
What is one thing you can do this week to help increase your confidence?
Well, I have a musical coming up in two or so weeks, so this week I'm going to practice until I'm confident enough!!!!!
It's funny though, because the cocky people on TV shows are usually not even that great!
YOOOOO, next up!
Is there such a thing as too much confidence?
Is there such a thing as too much confidence?
Sometimes I find people that are overly-confident can get on my nerves a bit. I don't know if it's becase I'm jealous of their unwavering confidence or not!
I also think it's good to have a little humility as well as confidence. Does that make sense?
It makes perfect sense @Chonty. Plus those that are too confident are what I like call, DOUCHBAGS! Because they get on everyone's nerves.
@stonepixie I think there's a line some people cross, from being self-confident to being pushy and arrogant. The word "swag" keeps popping up in my head haha
@stonepixie I just googled "SWAG" and Google gave me the literal definitions... like for camping or cimbing onesbelongings together. I clicked on urban dictionary and laughed so hard at the definition! đŸ˜„ đŸ˜„ I won't copy and past cause I don't know if it's appropriate for the site, but have a look!
Hahahahaa I love urban dictionary, @Bee but it's so out there... like all the time, hehehe
SWAG comes from Scandinavia and orginally meant 'to rock unsteadily or lurch'. The meaning then changed to 'hanging loosely or heavily, to sag' (seems fitting). Then it changed to what has been previously mentioned in this thread. Now in North America, it is supposed to mean 'HOBO' so here in Aus land, BOGAN!
Hahaha
