Everyone is creative, right?
To me being creative is being artistic, musical; it is seeing things in an innovative and original way. By that definition I am not creative, in fact I was once asked not to display my year eight art because my painting was ‘too hard to understand’. Just so you know we had to draw something that made us happy- I painted a canvas blue and said ‘water’ made me happy, I thought A+ for effort they thought not!
Anyway, high school grudges aside people use the word creative in relation to me in… creative ways, such as “what a creative car park!” or “that’s a creative way of cooking pasta”. Most of the time I think they might be making fun of my obscure way of getting things done, but may I remind you they are the ones who used the word “creative” not me. I am jealous of anyone who can draw more than a lop sided love heart and a daisy flower. I wish when I got bored I could just start drawing, or playing an instrument…
But can creativity be more than just the ability to paint or play an instrument? I believe some people express creativity through their energy or in the way they think and behave, and by that definition maybe we can all be creative.

I know firsthand that @SJG is creative in the most obvious sense; she has mentioned it on the forums before and I have seen her work, in fact I own a piece. So on Monday join myself and @SJG to see how one very uncreative person (myself) and one very creative person @SJG, navigate the world of creativity.
Whether you can draw, cook, organise well, tell jokes, write well, or even park your car well, Join us on Monday at 8pm.
Have you heard about art and music therapy? How might art or music therapy help in a tough time?
I actually want to develop art therapy as my career, at the moment im really interested in using at a treatment for either people with degenerative disorders (parkinsons, alzheimers etc) or for kids with developmental disorders! Not sure how exactly yet but ill make it happen!!!
"But I think the most creative thing I have ever done is exploring each day as they come with my ever shifting moods, feelings and emotions and creatively expressing it through writing and art."
GREAT
Whats the most creative thing you have ever done? Or do regularly? Story time!
I once made a picture collage for my sister of all these baby photos of her! And it was really cool ... only problem i never asked mum if i could cut up the photos for it- she was not happy. But luckily it was good ( yup thats right it was good) so it wasnt too bad.
Given everything you guys have said i am creative... i do flower arranging, lots of baking, is assignment writing creativie? because sometimes i reckon the tasks they set us are creative haha. I also have pretty ok problem solving skills

So much creativeness in needed for that! Glad that you changed your mind and consider yourself as creative.
Do you consider yourself creative or not-creative?? What are the things that have happened to make you think that?
NOT CREATIVE in a conventional sense. I cant draw, play music, dance do any of that! My best friend can draw and design so i have always been the noncreative one. However i just realised im comparing myself to a PHD industrial design student that topped her honours year... so yeh im NOT creative compared to her! But surely im more creative than some.... right?

lol!!! @EloiseRose im in your house right now and you are def creative!!!
You guys are housemates?? Maybe after tonight you can inspire each other. 😛
Great responses guys...
Here is a tricky one - try and think about this given what we have all said 🙂

Yes absolutely.
I tend to bake a lot (and im pretty good) so I am constantly coming up with new cupcake topping designs and ideas.
I also write a lot of poetry when the mood strikes me (which I have been told is pretty good, but its just me putting emotion onto paper without editing).
I am also a Uni student living in a tiny campus room, just fitting stuff in the room without letting it look a mess is creativity at its finest.

@Maddi_1995 ok if i take a page of your book - I'm great at baking ( yeh i am haha ) and i can creatively tidy my room as well ... so maybe i am creative
OMG...I love baking too! I always get so much joy of making fancy desserts and watching people eat and enjoy them. Oh and yes, I agree...organisation is creative.

Hmm that is a hard one! I think the most creative thing I've ever done is playing lots of different instruments when I was at school - during high school I played piano, bass clarinet, clarinet, drums, baritone saxophone and did vocal lessons at different times, which I think is quite creative. I don't seem to get as much time for creative pursuits now that I've finished school, life seems to take over all the time! I do draw daily though and try to paint and play piano when I can.

That's a lot of instruments...go you!
I used to always come up with ice-cream flavours that I could make, but stopped when I had a major fall out with my group of friends. I should probably start that creative process again!
I used to imagine train track designs for my nephews and then build them. Just watching their faces light up with delight was the best reward ever. :')
I sure did make them @EloiseRose! The only problem would be making them in mass production. Would it be worth it (money wise)? Would it still taste the same? So many questions that need asking and answering. But I don't think I love ice-cream enough to work for an ice-cream company.

I used to be very good at painting when I was younger. I would spend as much time as I could at the school art room drawing and painting peices of art because I couldn't at home, wasn't allowed. But once my Dad found out I was made to feel pretty ashamed about it and had any of my art destroyed. So I haven't gone down that path in 3 or 4 years...
