Everyone is creative, right?

To me being creative is being artistic, musical; it is seeing things in an innovative and original way. By that definition I am not creative, in fact I was once asked not to display my year eight art because my painting was ‘too hard to understand’. Just so you know we had to draw something that made us happy- I painted a canvas blue and said ‘water’ made me happy, I thought A+ for effort they thought not!

Anyway, high school grudges aside people use the word creative in relation to me in… creative ways, such as “what a creative car park!” or “that’s a creative way of cooking pasta”. Most of the time I think they might be making fun of my obscure way of getting things done, but may I remind you they are the ones who used the word “creative” not me. I am jealous of anyone who can draw more than a lop sided love heart and a daisy flower. I wish when I got bored I could just start drawing, or playing an instrument…

But can creativity be more than just the ability to paint or play an instrument? I believe some people express creativity through their energy or in the way they think and behave, and by that definition maybe we can all be creative.

I know firsthand that @SJG is creative in the most obvious sense; she has mentioned it on the forums before and I have seen her work, in fact I own a piece. So on Monday join myself and @SJG to see how one very uncreative person (myself) and one very creative person @SJG, navigate the world of creativity.

Whether you can draw, cook, organise well, tell jokes, write well, or even park your car well, Join us on Monday at 8pm.

Just got to get back into the swing of things, that was when I was 14 and I'm 19 now so surely I can see what I can come up with maybe.

I used to be very good at painting when I was younger. I would spend as much time as I could at the school art room drawing and painting peices of art because I couldn't at home, wasn't allowed. But once my Dad found out I was made to feel pretty ashamed about it and had any of my art destroyed. So I haven't gone down that path in 3 or 4 years...

😞  Sorry to hear that.  That's really awful and would have been quite traumatic to see him do that to your art.  Maybe you can reconnect with it sometime again.

CREATIVE! I don't even need to think about it. Cat Tongue I have a pretty wild imagination, I LOVE arts and crafts and my stuff often inspires others. And my problem solving skills are pretty awesome!

Gee! I sound like I'm trying to sell myself. Potential employers ... I hope you are reading this! Cat Tongue Cat Wink Cat LOL

I think i am creative in two ways, in the conventional sense (i do a lot of illustration) but also in the way i think, which is often described as "weird", but i think thats a good thing! But not everyone understands creative lines of thought

Probably when I plan out the footy matches, as well as playing I coach a younger side. That means I have to figure out who plays where, when, how and what players play best on certain players from the opposing side as well as what style of gameplay is best for the team we're playing against. It so heaps more difficult than it seems, especially trying to tell a bunch of 14 years old what to do on a football field.

Jay.

My last post was not in answer with the following question, but it seems to fit! Cat LOL

Whats the most creative thing you have ever done? Or do regularly? Story time!

I like to draw a lot! Imagine senarios that will never ever happen! Problem solve for other people ... like ... all the time! I did a major body of work for year 12 art and absolutely hate it!

One thing that I miss doing is plating up dishes. It is an art in itself!

Ahhhh...it's a shame you hate your body of work!  I did mine 10 years ago and it's still hanging in my parents house.  People are still always commenting on it.  I know that I have progressed immensely in all those years, but it's kind of nice to see where I was at the time.

Hmmm...I more 'appreciate it'.  Plus you know my parents don't just hang anything up, so I like that they are still enjoying them themselves.

OK ummmmmmmmmm,

I write poetry all the time...

Umm if I can find a really happy one I can put it up if you guys want me to.

It stems from when I was going through the dark cloud in my life and I have been writing ever since.

I also paint (but I am not good at it)

I've been involved in so many projects involved behind the scenes of theatre and film, from illustrating, costume design, painting, graphic design, special effects make up, props acting, filming etc...etc...etc.

But I think the most creative thing I have ever done is exploring each day as they come with my ever shifting moods, feelings and emotions and creatively expressing it through writing and art.

Side note:  HARD QUESTION!!!

OH CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

This kind of reminds me...'achievment wise', I work was in Art Express...I cleaned up all the school awards for Art and Photography in year 12 and I had work displayed in the Powerhouse Museum as well.  That was all pretty cool.  But I still felt like I didn't deserve any of it.  Like none of it was good enough...so yeah, I get in that mind trap too.

Just letting you guys know that we have exceeded my dream ... it only went up to 9 pages. Cat Very Happy Cat LOL

@_sagira_ We are no longer friends, but I guess that is what happens when you loose trust in people. It was most certainly not over ice-cream flavours, but rather a lack of support when I needed them most, as in, I had none. It still brings me to tears just thinking about it, but I'm so lucky to have found some awesome people who have supported me from the get go.
