Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

@StormySeas17 I resonate with your becoming a builder journey, as well as your psychology career path- nice to see someone doing similar things. Welcome aboard!

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

Hi everyone,

  1. How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user? I first heard about ReachOut through a Google search haha, and decided to get involved on the forums about a month ago
  2. What's your favourite post thread? So far... "What are you listening to now"
  3. Why did you decide to become a Builder? I wanted to become a builder because it is consistent with my values
  4. What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)? Varies day to day but is a mix of study, sleep, eat and exercise etc.
  5. Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?)? Spending too much time on Reddit
  6. What's you're all time favourite TV show? Breaking Bad

  • How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user?

I was looking around for some volunteering opportunities, especially in mental health, and I came across the ReachOut Builders.

  • What's your favourite post thread?

I like the Getting Real Forum, cool to have a bit of a live chat about a topic.

  • Why did you decide to become a Builder?

I struggled a lot with mental health when I was a teenager. It is something I still struggle with, and will have to work on pretty much forever. I wanted to be involved in something that makes me feel I am able to help others, but in doing so I think it will help me a lot as well.

  • What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)

I am studying a masters in architecture, and I work part-time for an architect.

  • Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?)?

Not so many weird hobbies, when I am not studying or working I tend to go to the gym, for a run or for a long walk. I spend a lot of time with my friends of course and we like to cook together, the more adventurous the better. I guess the weirdest thing is that during the uni breaks I do free online courses in all sorts of topics because I like to keep learning.

  • What's you're all time favourite TV show?

I don’t think I have a favourite of all time, but I did just finish binge watching Killing Eve which I quite enjoyed.

@Lottie  welcome, glad you found this thread!

What kind of architecture do you like? Do you want to pursue a particular career in architecture? What free courses have you done lately?

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

@Tay100 Thanks for interest! I really like timber architecture, I used to live on a fault line in New Zealand so we always built in timber. I definitely want to pursue a career in architecture! At the moment, I am signed on to two free courses. One is a watercolour and the other one is a free online Yale course on The Science of Well-Being. The well being one is about taking psychological science and how we can apply that to everyday life which seems very useful!

@Lottie a YALE course? my gosh, that is so smart! How is the course run- do you have seminars with Yale professors? What interests you in wellbeing in particular?
