Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

1. How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user?

I first heard about ReachOut at when studying mental health in PDHPE at school. I have known of the organisation for years but didn’t know they ran these forums until recently when I signed up.

2. What's your favourite post thread?

I’m still new to the forum so am yet to see many post threads. Those in the ‘Wellbeing: Everyday Life” folder are my favourite so far.

3. Why did you decide to become a Builder?

I became a builder because mental health has always been an important issue to me. I found this opportunity as I was researching ways in which I could volunteer or assist others.

4. What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)?

Study. Lots and lots of university study. I also enjoy socialising with my friends, taking my dogs for a walk and going to the beach.

5. Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?)?

I am obsessed with Bananagram. If you don’t know what that is, open a new tab now and google it. Better yet, buy it.

6. What's you're all time favourite TV show?

This question is on par with “what’s your favourite food(?)" in difficulty. Could never narrow it down to one show but if I had to choose a genre, I would definitely pick comedy. The Office and Friends are just some examples.

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

Hi @h0peful! Welcome to the forums and the bob team! Smiley Happy
Like you, I also learned about ReachOut through PDHPE in school. I think I even had to submit a review of the website for an assignment.
I've seen that Bananagram game but I've never played it. Is it fun? We have lots of board games and card games at our house. I might have to change the name of the game and hide the banana case though because for some reason my sister doesn't like bananas. Smiley LOL

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

Hello to the most recent builders @funnyusername and @h0peful - big big welcome!

I absolutely lovvvvvvve the Office @h0peful, as I'm pretty sure like 90% of the population does too, that show is objectively hilarious! I only recently discovered that an extended version of Threat Level Midnight is on Youtube - have you seen the full version? It's amazing.

@funnyusername I'm sorry to say that I didn't vibe with Peepshow Smiley Sad My partner loves it though so maybe it's time for me to give it another chance?

Hope y'all enjoy your time here Heart

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

@WheresMySquishy  Bananagram is so fun! Although the way I like to describe it to people sounds boring Smiley LOL - it's like scrabble but you play by yourself and without a board. Confused? It's a race to see who can finish their letters first so the game can sometimes get very competitive.

Your sister doesn't like bananas?! Impossible! Try freezing one - they taste like ice-cream Smiley Tongue

  1. How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user?

Hey! So I was googling for online volunteering roles because of covid and this year was actually supposed to my gap year to look for more relevant work experience because I studies psychology. I volunteer at another place and I discovered I actually really love helping the community Smiley Happy

  1. What's your favourite post thread?

So still new here but I like the hangout section. There was one about a positivity train and just seeing all these positive words made me smile!

  1. Why did you decide to become a Builder?

I don't have any formal qualifications to help people in a professional setting so the next best thing is to use my mental health experience (the highs and lows) as a way to help others. I'm a strong believer of learning through other people's stories

  1. What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)?

Omg i wish i could taste cupcakes for a living. So i just graduated last year and I actually started my own youtube channel centred around mental health. So that keeps me really motivated

  1. Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?)

Maybe not too weird but I love filmmaking. Me and my partner/friends get together and make a bunch of shorts. It's so creatively rewarding

  1. What's you're all time favourite TV show?

Oh that's tough to ask to a film buff haha but I love this question uh, I would have to answer for movie instead because I recently watched a Japanese indie movie called Still Walking and it's just so beautiful

@wanderingwasp  hello there, welcome, love the username! Very poetic!

What is the life of a mental health youtube like? How do you like to create content? That's so fascinating!

  1. How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user?I'm a Psychology student and I was searching for some volunteering opportunities to gain experience and I came across this! Due to the virus this year it has impact face-to-face volunteering, so it is good we can engage with this forum!
  2. What's your favourite post thread? I like the recipe ones, gratitude and self-care
  3. Why did you decide to become a Builder? It looks like a friendly and supportive environment and it is a good way to connect with people and provide support during Covid times especially.
  4. What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)? I study full time and I am a youth worker. I also enjoy going to the gym.
  5. Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?) Not really haha I must be pretty boring!
  6. What's you're all time favourite TV show? I don't have one favourite, I think there are different TV shows for different moods, sometimes I just want to watch something that doesn't require too many brain cells to watch like reality TV and then other times I enjoy the series where you get really involved in like, Money Heist and Power!!

Re: Introduce Yourself Here - NEW BUILDERS!

How did you first hear about ReachOut and when did you decide to get involved on the forums as a user?

I heard about ReachOut earlier in the year at uni, but I only just began getting involved in the forums, but it seems like such an awesome and friendly community I'm really excited to get way more involved!

What's your favourite post thread?

My favourite post thread is the self-care one. I'm naturally a pretty stressed out person so I'm always looking for new and creative ways to destress and live a calm and happy life, so hearing about everyone's ideas of self-care is really fascinating to me.

Why did you decide to become a Builder?

I decided to become a builder because I really love helping people, using my experiences if possible, supporting others and listening to their stories. I love how everyone has a different walk in life and how everyone has different perspectives and experiences. I'm also studying psychology so participating in community things like this is exactly what I am passionate about.

What do you do during the day (Study? Work? Hunt ghosts? Fight Crime? Taste cupcakes?)?

During the day I usually do some uni work/go to uni, go to aerobics (I coach it and do it) and go for a walk. I also really love reading and spending time with my family and friends, so I try to make sure I always check in with them every day.

Do you have any weird hobbies (Train a rubber duck army? Teach lizards Spanish? Learn how to the master the recorder?)?

Not really a weird hobby but I kinda love to daydream, just to be with myself and my thoughts and my wild imagination.

What's you're all time favourite TV show?

My favourite TV show is called The Last Ship, my sister got me into it a few years ago, but it's actually scary how similar it is to the events of this year with coronavirus!
