[INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

It can be tough & confusing growing up as a guy in today's world. There's so much info in the media, online & in society but not all of it is healthy or accurate- in fact, some of it is downright twisted.

Our two male facilitators this week, Chris & Carpell, have heaps of experience running respectful relationship programs with young males. They're more than happy to 'help a brother out' & tackle all your questions about being a 'real man' in today's world. No topics will be off-limit - porn, sexting, macho-ness, violence, women, sexual assault, gender, relationships, sex & consent.

Bring on the questions- big or small - this Thursday the 14th of August at 9pm AEST right here!
This session is open to everyone (all genders).

Got a question about  porn, sexting, macho-ness, violence, women, sexual assault, gender, relationships, sex & consent that you’d like to ask anonymously?
Submit it here and Chirs & Carpell will attempt to answer your question during the session.

To get you thinking...

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

Hello and welcome to the August Infobus here on RO.com! We are really stoked to be joined by Carpell who works with young guys through the Respect. Protect. Connect program (part of the South Eastern Centre against Sexual Assault).

Tonight, we’ll be asking your thoughts on a bunch of things to do with sex, relationships & masculinity. And while we'll have a focus on guys - this chat is for everyone! Over the next hour & a half we'll be asking you for your thoughts and opinions and your best tips for respectful relationships.

I’ll be co-facilitating tonight with @EloiseRose and @SJG ,our awesome peer moderators, as well as Carpell our special guest. If at any stage you feel overwhelmed or upset by anything that happens in the discussion, know you can always have a chat with the legends at Kids Helpline (webchat or 1800 55 1800).

As always, please take note of the guidelines that help everyone feel safe & supported here: stay anonymous; no linking to other campaigns without permission and no descriptions of self-harm, suicide or abuse that might be triggering to others. There’s more guidelines, read them here.

Hope you all had a chance to see the video above, now we ask What do you think about the following statement, do you agree/disagree? Why? "Everyone’s seen porn. That’s how I learnt how to do it, so it’s a great for learning stuff and it’s pleasurable. As long as no one gets hurt it’s ok."

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

Hey ya'll welcome to tonight !

Its my first infobus session and im prettty excited - so here we go!

What do you think about the following statement, do you agree/disagree? Why? "Everyone’s seen porn. That’s how I learnt how to do it, so it’s a great for learning stuff and it’s pleasurable. As long as no one gets hurt it’s ok."

I dont think everyone has watched porn! i sometimes wonder if people have the expectation to watch porn because of their peer groups. So no i dont agree "everyone" has watched porn but i do believe that people do learn from it and get alot out of it

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

Theres no question that is silly!

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

Hey everybody!!

Well i do know a few people who have never watched porn.. not actively at least. Personally i think its kind of hilarious... but also gross. But if your struggling with technique i suppose it could be useful.. never really thought about porn in depth before!

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

Porn is so accessible these days and even if you don't intend to watch it chances are you've come across it

Re: [INFOBUS] A Dude's Guide to Relationships, Sex and Masculinity

@SJG
I haven't thought about it in depth either before. I personally have never watched it ... is that something to be embarrassed about ???
