[INFOBUS] Relationships: the good, bad & ugly

When it comes to relationships. there's the good the bad and the ugly. This month our Infobus session will sort the good from the bad as we invite you to share what makes you feel good in a relationship and what makes it fun. On Thursday the 11th of December at 9pm our guest will be Donovan a counsellor who has worked with the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and the Respect Protect Connect program in Victoria, which is all about healthy relationships! Here's what he had to say:

In the lead up to Thursday night's discussion there are a few things you can do.

1. If you have a question about this topic you'd like to ask anonymously, submit it here and we'll do our best to answer it during the discussion!

2. Watch this set of videos from the UK to see if you are "in the know" about relationships. Just aswer the question at the end of the video to see the next one.

See you Thursday!

Re: [INFOBUS] Relationships: the good, bad & ugly

Hey y’all welcome to tonight’s discussion. We’re joined by the awesome South East Centre Against Sexual Assault and more specifically, @Donovan - RPC. He's a counsellor and you can read more about him above. We've also got the mega excellent moderator and peer supporter @ruenhonx co-facilitating.

Tonight we’re going to be have a chat  about relationships - how to keep them respectful and healthy.

Don't forget to keep the ReachOut.com guidelines in mind tonight, and remember that we aren't providing one-on-one support tonight so if at any point you are feeling overwhelmed you can always log out and head over to to have a chat with those great folks at 1800RESPECT around any issues to do with unhealthy relationships, domestic violence or sexual assault...

Looking forward to hearing everyone's opinions! So, to kick off our first question for you all tonight is: Relationships come in many forms - why do we humans get into relationships? Why do we want them and what do we get out of them?

Relationships come in many forms - why do we humans get into relationships? Why do we want them and what do we get out of them?

I think it is human nature for us to be close with other, we are social creatures and are meant to make bonds with others. We want them because relationships of all kind can give us comfort, support, companionship, love, and a sense of community. Relationships help us develop and grow and learn.

Re: [INFOBUS] Relationships: the good, bad & ugly

Really like this first question.  I'm not sure if there is any one answer but as people we seem to be pretty social and like having others around us.  I think about going to the movies for example.......you mostly sit watching by yourself and not talking but having someone else come with you to sit together and talk about it afterwards just makes it much more enjoyable somehow
