Assessments

Hi guys,

Two weeks earlier my cat passed away, and after that time was assessment period. Because of my low mood I didn't submit three of my assessments. And it is a week past, and into the holidays already. I really need to submit my things. I told my mother and she was quite mad said I really need to write everything. I think I need counselling. I am not like, super into grief, or feel really sad. It is just like feeling empty.

I'm so sorry your cat passed away @Kitsune😞 It makes so much sense for that to lead you to become behind on uni- the loss of a pet can be devastating. Is there any way you could contact your uni and tell them what's been happening? They might be able to make special arrangements for you. I would also recommend seeking out some counselling if you think it would be helpful! Is there anything like that you can access through your uni? Or perhaps something like kidshelpline?

Hey @Kitsune

Just checking in to see how you're feeling today? I'm really sorry to hear about your cat. Our pets are such a big part of our lives and such important family members. My dog is sending you a big virtual hug!

It's really awesome to hear that you are feeling open to chatting to a counsellor. I know you had a psychologist in the past, but in case you're looking for a different type of support, this post has some really great info on how to go about organising that. If you scroll down and click on the images, you'll be able to see a step by step guide 😊 If you have any questions, we're here to help.

Hi @Kitsune,

I'm so incredibly sorry that you lost your cat. I'm always devastated when I've lost one of my pets, so I completely understand why you are feeling empty and couldn't do your assessments.

Counselling sounds like a really good idea, it will allow you time to talk about how you're feeling. I know in the past you have spoken with a psychologist, would you feel comfortable going back to see them?

Considering that it's the holidays, are you able to email your Teachers and the School Counsellor and let them know what has happened? There may be the option to get an extension on your assessments considering that you are having such a difficult time.

I'll include this article about grief, I know it's not going to make a huge dent in the amount of sadness and loss that you are feeling right now, it's just there for when you feel ready to read it 💜💛

I'll send you an email as well, so please keep an eye out for that.

Welcome back!
