Re: Don't read this. TW

All of it @Bree-RO it happened ages ago. I shouldn't let it affect me like it does. I shouldn't freak out every time I see my abuser. I shouldn't get flashbacks. I shouldn't blame myself. Etc

I don't want it to get to me anymore

Re: Don't read this. TW

This sounds like a really challenging situation @redhead and it's understandable that you aren't over it and that seeing your abuser would make you feel you this way.

If this situation was happening to a friend, what would you say to them?

Re: Don't read this. TW

@TOM-RO I guess your right. If it was a friend I'd tell them they're doing the best they can. And soon the Guy will have to be accountable for what they did.

Re: Don't read this. TW

that's such a powerful and supportive way to reframe it @redhead. I think sometimes we can be pretty hard on ourselves so switching it up and trying to think of how you would support a friend in that moment can help us to be a little more compassionate to ourselves Heart
