Feeling lonely

I don't have any friends at all.

I get socially anxious.

But I feel lonely.

Re: Feeling lonely

Hello @LadyCocoa1234,

You might not believe it, but even the most confident people feel socially anxious. Approaching a stranger, or even an acquaintance you have seen but have not talked to, can be scary, so making friends take time. Since everyone feels the same nervousness as you do, go ahead and make small talk. You can talk about the weather, their work/school life etc. It is not very personal, so it does not have to be confronting, and even if they do not warmly welcome you, at least you tried! It is funny, but sometimes the more you get rejected, the less you care about it. It is not as bad as you think, so have a go! You will not know what might happen unless you try.

Try joining your local sports club or some sort of activity to meet new people. If you are passionate about something, by going to a gathering point of people who share the same interest, it makes it much easier to talk about something common and create a bond.

Best of luck!

Re: Feeling lonely

Hey @Suhail, welcome to RO! I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling that way - it can be so hard to feel lonely, and it can also be hard trying to reach out and make new friends when you aren't the most socially outgoing person. Some other forum users have posted resources and advice above - have you had a look at it?

Just so you know, RO is an Australia-based website, so we might not be able to give you information specific to where you live, although you're very welcome to have a look at the resources on our site Smiley Happy
