I see, I think from the first few conversations you can tell if you 'click' with someone right? Plus friendships should be easy rather than hard work that is going to make you tired. 

I think group settings might be best to start with because they are casual to start with. From personal experience, one on one dinners seems to be quite 'intimate' so when I'm in group settings like bowling or doing something fun like that then I get a very casual and laid-back atmosphere from the group. 

University clubs tend to do lots of group outings! 

Also, I was wondering if you ended up trying art?
