Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

Hi @Jess1-RO.

I'm not great... I mean, I'm always a bit depressed but I think I'm at the start of another period of extra depression. Which will be "fun".

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

Hi @Tiny_leaf! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down. Smiley Sad I've been feeling frustrated with some of my family members today too.

On the plus side, I was able to get an ophthalmologist appointment this week! I think someone must have cancelled or something.

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

@WheresMySquishy cancellations are the best!! I'm kinda hoping that someone's double booked something and I'll be able to get an earlier appointment...

Until then though I'll probably be looking at a neurologist for if the rheumatologist doesn't find anything..

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

@Tiny_leaf  Hopefully! Once a doctor offered to swap her kid's appointment with another specialist that had a long waiting list with me because they wouldn't have been able to do that date, but I couldn't do that date either. I can't believe I was able to get in so early with my ophthalmologist because normally it takes months. The appointments themselves also tend to be long but because I saw him not long ago, I'm hoping that they won't do the same tests that they usually do and there won't be as much waiting. I remember having to find ways of entertaining myself for around three hours at my previous ophthalmologist's practice.

I hope my sister can see a neurologist eventually too, just to rule out anything else. I think they do see some people with chronic pain.

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

Oof.. three hours is a lot..

And yeah, I think so. A friend of mine needs to see one for really bad foot and leg pain, and my chiropractor suggested I see one if nothing happens with the rheumatologist.

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

Hi @Tiny_leaf! How are you today?

Your chiropractor sounds helpful. I've heard of a lot of dodgy ones and bad experiences so I've always been hesitant about recommending them. Yours seems to be good though.

I got to see my ophthalmologist! There were a lot of people but luckily I didn't have to wait that long. I seem to always be the youngest patient at that practice whenever I go. There were lots of older people with mobility issues waiting with me to see the doctors there.

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

@WheresMySquishy I'm pretty good, I had horse riding!!

And yeah, I've heard a few horror stories about them, so I was a little cautious...

I think that there are two kinds; one will work on your spine and back to reduce tension and straighten out hips and shoulders, the other kind will work on your back to adjust your magical-spine-energy and cure cancer in the progress...

The first kind can really, really help with back issues, and are honestly like a physio with more specialized knowledge on spines.

The second kind... can be pretty dodgy...

And yay!! I know what you mean about being the youngest person there.. in heaps of websites with pages on proper cane usage it's almost exclusively retirees..

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

@Tiny_leafWoo! I have some family friends who own a farm and do a lot of equestrian work. When I was younger, they let me ride their horse. He was a beautiful white horse who passed away several years ago.

I agree about needing to be wary of the second kind! My physio used to gently massage my neck to reduce the tension in it and it was really helpful (and sleep-inducing). I've heard there's a 'wrong' way to do this though. I remember hearing about a chiropractor who manipulated someone's neck too harshly and the patient suffered a stroke or something as a result.

True! There were people with canes and mobility aids there.

My ophthalmologist didn't seem too happy with my eyes, which I'm kind of used of used to by now because I've had eye problems all my life and a family history of similar problems. But he surprised me by saying for me to get a referral to see his colleague to discuss the possibility of cornea surgery next month. Now, I've had this problem with one of my corneas for a number of years now and it wasn't causing me any issues, so I'm wondering why he's only bringing up the possibility of surgery now and why it seems to suddenly be more urgent. From what I understand, I am at risk of the problem getting worse or spreading to my other eye due to my current symptoms. Apparently, it's not as bad as it could have been though and can be managed at home as well, but if I had left it untreated, it would have got worse.

I think I did the right thing by making an appointment. I was kind of worried that they wouldn't take me seriously or that I was overreacting or crazy because my main symptom was pain. I hope you and everyone else on the forums end up having a doctor who can take their concerns seriously too! Heart

Re: My family kinda hates me and I'm starting to hate me too

@WheresMySquishy yeah, I've heard that as well.. I think if they twist it too far it can damage an artery...

I'm glad that your doctor took you seriously! It's such a relief when that happens..

I hope that the discussion helps you figure out why he's so concerned about your eyes..
