Re: Really Low

I got a call last Friday from MH Team. The team psychiatrist was going to see me on Tuesday this week. I met with him and he said given all of the stressors I've been under since April it's small wonder I am feeling this way. I saw him again yesterday . He is writing to my GP to advise him to prescribe [new medication] . Will mean watching my liver function closely so lots of blood tests. But at least I might begin to feel better soon.

Re: Really Low

Hey @Misery I'm really glad you finally got to see someone and get some help! Must feel good to get some validation as to why you're feeling the way you are, and to see that light at the end of the tunnel. Are you trying any self-help techniques along with your new medication?

Speaking of medication, I had to edit out your post a tiny bit as it's against our community guidelines to name/discusss specific medications. Hope you understand!

Re: Really Low

I haven't even had the GP appointment to get the blood tests done yet. That won't happen until Wednesday so I won't get the results until the following Wednesday. Self -help methods . I'm not sure what methods to employ for feeling suicidal other than distraction. I can't use Mindfullness . I can't think straight enough to remain in the moment at all. I can't see my psychologist until February . Today the psychiatrist from the MH team phoned as he thought he had forgotten to tell me something. He also informed me that the psychologist who was meant to see me now won't as she thinks it would be too confusing to see more than one psychologist. Even though her program is for suicide prevention and only runs for a month ! So I guess I get to "heal thy self" while I wait ? another 2-3 weeks to begin a medication.

Re: Really Low

Hi Misery - have you tried calling Lifeline at all? If you're still waiting another few weeks for any sort of treatment, they may be able to help. Their number is 131114.

Best of luck Smiley Happy

Re: Really Low

Hi Jay-Dee,

The treatment I'll get in February will only be the exact same stuff as last year and it wasn't a helpful approach. As I attend the pain clinic I have no choice about seeing this guy. It's a package deal that I pay to see him or I can't see the pain specialist at all. It's really not going to be worth the wait at all. I was counting on combining medication & new therapy but looks like I have pin it all on the medication.

Re: Really Low

Well it's all over. GP still hasn't received the letter from the psychiatrist more than 2wks after it was faxed . GP said he will not prescribe the medication unless he has the letter. MH service says they don't know what has happened to it. GP says Psychiatrist should have prescribed it. There will be no medication or counselling . I can't afford to go back to the pain clinic so I've cancelled all the appointments there . I will have to cancel the appointment next week with the psychiatrist because he won't prescribe the medication either without a copy of my LFT results. So while everyone points fingers at each other I will literally die waiting for help. I've knocked myself out and it was a waste of energy.

Re: Really Low

Hey @Misery

I am so very sorry to hear what a incredibly crappy outcome you've had. It sounds like an absolute nightmare for you. I imagine you must feel let down, outraged, frustrated beyond belief, despondant, scared and a whole bunch of other things as well!!

It's very, very unfair that you're not getting what you need from these people. Their role is to help and it sounds like they've completely let you down. I have no idea what I would do in this situation. I can only imagine how upset and powerless I would feel. What a nightmare for you.

Re: Really Low

I had to stop work just 90 mins into it. I told them I felt lightheaded but I simply felt overwhelmed . I don't know if I'll be able to manage tomorrow. A sign that Things have deteriorated significantly with no hope of improvement. How do you turn this around when you can't afford counselling ; can't take regular antidepressants ; nobody will prescribe the only one you can take and because you no longer sleep yet work shift work you can't even exercise to improve your mood? I'm out of ideas. I can't do it any longer. I have exhausted every avenue I would recommend to others.

Re: Really Low

So angry. I found out today that the letter from the psych to my GP was received and scanned into the computer on 3rd January. Yet I've seen the GP three times in the past 2wks and at no point did could he manage to find it and just kept sending me away saying he couldn't help me. He could have prescribed the medication I need.

Re: Really Low

Oh no @Misery ! How frustrating!

But now that they've found it, they can help you out, right?
