Re: tw: overwhelming flashbacks

@litgym So TIP stands for temperature, intense exercise, and paced breathing. First you use ice or an ice pack or a cold shower to lower your body temperature. Then you get your heart rate up, I do star jumps but you could also dance or run or anything really! Finally you do paced breathing where you breathe in for the count of 4 then out for the count of eight. I was taught that when you feel really distressed these things kinda ‘reset’ your body and help calm you down. If you have to modify it for safety that’s fine as well, for example, I use an ice pack instead of having cold showers because cold water triggers my asthma.

I’m sure they won’t mind another call! But the lifeline text chat sounds helpful as well, maybe that’d be a good option?

You’re definitely not wasting anyone’s time. We care about you and want you to be safe Heart

Re: tw: overwhelming flashbacks

oh bummer, I didn't realise they had an age restriction @litgym sorry x

I'm sorry to feel you think you've contacted KHL too much this week.

Would heading over to games and playing some word games with each other help pass some time and possibly distract you from the pain? I'm happy to jump across there if you like?

Re: tw: overwhelming flashbacks

ooh Yes I remember looking at TIP before! Definitely worth a shot @litgym

Sorry to hear your mum is making you more triggered, is there any chance you could mention that her current actions aren't helping you/making you feel triggered and ask her to stop?

Re: tw: overwhelming flashbacks

I hope it’s helpful @litgym Smiley Happy

That’s really mean of your sister, you deserve so much better than your family being nasty to you. Could you go to your room and play music really loudly so you can’t hear either of them for a bit? Heart

Re: tw: overwhelming flashbacks

@litgym I'm sorry to hear that Smiley Sad

I like @DruidChild's suggestion of some alone time and music, what do you think?
