Our Guide To: Body Image
In this super brief guide to Body Image we wanted to give some pointers on how to cope when you are struggling with poor body image. If you have some tips as well, please add them in your comments so this can become a growing resource with different ways to manage your body image.
It’s really common that most people at some stage in their life, will have an unhealthy body image. For some people it can be a really persistent barrier to confidence and self acceptance. When it feels like your sense of self is holding you back, it’s time to reevaluate.
Our tips are:
- Get the facts on how to take care of your body, with a focus on health not weight. Read more about that here. What is healthy for your body is something you should decide on with the help of a health professional, such as a GP.
- Focus on what your body can do, not what it looks like. We’ve been chatting about being grateful for our bodies over here.
- Read about/Watch Videos/Talk to people who have overcome barriers around body image. We have a good article here to get you started.
On the 6th of July we are planning on talking about Body Image in way more depth - you can check that out here. And then again on the 13th we have a live GR on Body Image. It's such an important thing to be aware of and we're looking forward to having these chats with you all.
In the meantime if anyone wants more detailed info on all things Body Image check out the Butterfly Foundation here.

Re: Our Guide To: Body Image
Health At Every Size is a really useful addition to the health not weight theme.
Plus you can look up HAES dietitians, psychologists doctors, ect. if you're struggling to find someone with a similar approach.

Re: Our Guide To: Body Image
Absolutely agree with that @Tiny_leaf thanks for adding that in. It's so important for people to know that you can't know someones health just by looking at them as it dismantles some really harmful views about body positivity.
