In my opinion, I’ve found that feeling to be normal for me. To feel uncertainty or regret when I just adopted a new cat. I doubt myself whether I can give them the best life etc. it’s not necessarily that I go out and travel, in fact, I’m either at work or I’m at home. I don’t like travelling - but that’s just me.
Any kind of change in life is scary. All we got to do is adjust or make the choices.
Perhaps when you go out to travel, ask a friend/family member if they could mind your cat for that time. Cats are typically very  independent.
Getting a kitten takes a lot of adjusting to.

Not really knowing what to do, all the energy they may have, the meowing, what do it mean etc

Trust me, it gets easier. You and the kitten will adapt to each other. You’ll learn to know what the meows mean and she’ll adjust to your routine.

Cats are great pets, great for those suffering with mental health problems (like myself) I have 2 cats, both boys and honestly, I’d rather go through all the uncertainty again, not knowing if I made the right choice by brining them home - I’d rather do that again than not having them.
There’s usually a simple solution to most concerns.

And if it’s cat related - I’m the person who is happy to dish out advice.

it’s not selfish to want to just look after yourself BUT having a pet is a big responsibility. You really gotta make sure they have everything they need to be happy & healthy. But after the adjusting is done, it’s super easy.
