@musicfan_xo You can definitely see your gp if your mental health is bad, or you experience worrying side effects. It sounds like you may have found a great gp to support you! GPs can be very varied in how they look after patients' mental health. Some may have more experience in the area or have more qualifications that allow them to more capably give counselling. Others may play more of a role in prescribing regular medication and writing mental health care plans so you can access services like psychologist appointments without paying as much. Others meet with patients regularly to monitor their physical health since some medications used for mental health can have pretty serious long-term side effects for some people. It's a diverse mix. I just want to mention that you are perfectly allowed to ask the GP directly about what they can do to help with mental health! Unlike in the past, the doctor's role has become one of partnering with their patients. So many would welcome questions like these because they demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with them to improve your wellbeing. You don't need to have it all worked out before you meet them; it's good to reflect beforehand so you are prepared for an open discussion, but you can't be expected to rock up with it all sorted out.

@MB95:D woooo hooo Colouring for everyone!!! Thank you! Here is one I finished tonight. I started this Wednesday when things were feeling really hard. I knew I needed to colour but didn't want to mess the owl I was working on, so printed this one. And just let the colours reflect my emotions/mood.

Hey everyone, I'm a new bob as of May 2018 (although by no means a new member to RO), and I'm sure there's been some other new bobs since February 2017. :P 1. What is your favourite colour? Blue 2. What is the best games thread? Word scramble thread, love a good puzzle! 3. Name three random objects in your reach Sticky tape, radio, dictaphone 4. What is your dream job? A job that gives me the opportunity to use my strengths and skills to make a positive contribution in people's lives, and help them achieve their goals. 5. Your favourite 2 songs (link them) 6. Your favourite shoes you wear? Joggers 7. Why did you join RO When I joined RO just over 4 years ago, I was going through a really tough time, and it was a resource that had been recommended to me following a previous hospital admission, so I thought I'd sign up and see what happened! I'm SO glad I did!

It's all good @j95 there isn't really a wrong or right way for starters, we just found a way that is healthier for us than the old way, that's all. It takes practice to learn a new way of doing anything, and making new threads instead of using group threads is a pretty big leap for us, so it'll take some practice, and that's okay :). We can all support each other to do it too by making threads for each other when it's too hard to make one ourselves and i kinda like that :)

Recovery is acknowledging when you're not doing great instead of just trying to push through. Recovery is letting people in your life know about it and letting them support you in finding ways to make things better :)

If you were a flower, what type would you be and why? I don't know that many but I did always like jasmine flowers. Or was it some other flower that smelled bad to others but for some strange reason, I loved the smell of? If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be? Reading minds. It would make things so much easier. What's your favourite condement? Chicken salt counts, right? Haha. Works on everything Whats your favourite saying? The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart (Helen Keller) What is cooler, Dinosaurs or Dragons?

I agree @missep, this can help daily by reminding ourselves just how great we are! Being family orientated sounds really special. My favourite quality is that I always try to be fair, honest and to do the right thing. It isn't always easy and at times it can be hard to know what is 'right' but I consider it and work on it anyway and I like that!

@Gigi Leong I love buffalo wings so muuuch. Just got some from the one place I know that has them on the menu a couple of days ago, but they're all gone now. You must be a better cook than me if you made roast honey chicken wings (which sounds delicious, holy crap) because I've tried to make buffalo wings a couple of times and it was... sub-par. <<; Got any tips? :D Also, by coffee cake do you mean cake with actual coffee or the type of cake that goes with coffee @letitgo?

@Autumn23 its such a good show but there are heaps of episodes (which is why there is so much mental illness mentioned above as they try to always have one character dealing with a non physical struggle on the show) :) Drake actually got his start on Degrassi as Jimmy Brooks and Nina Dobrev (from the Vampire Diaries) was on it as well. I honestly think that schools should use Degrassi as a resource when it comes to mental illness as its really accurate and relateable :) I am such a fan of Canadian tv and find that they are so much more open when it comes to mental illness on TV. Let me know what you think of Degrassi because trust me once you start you can't stop

@jesseka_grace that's why I'm so thankful to find this group and yeah you're right it is hard when you're diagnosised young, because well I don't know about you guys but I hadn't really thought about children or fertility before and I just had always assumed that when I would want to have kids it'll be simple and easy and it was quite a shock to have to suddenly consider how tough something that I had always assumed would always be in my future may not be as simple as I first thought. Yeah I've seen others with symptoms like me in research too (along with media stories where they're labeled as weird oddities or something) but have yet to meet anyone in person or online directly and I had a hope to one day meet someone so it can feel a little more normal you know what I mean? But I'm not as alone anymore s Yeah @jesseka_grace you're right hopefully we can hold onto our little group so we can be there to support one another if we ever need it.

@AprilScarlet I also desperately wanted to be a vet! This dissipated when I did work experience at a vet clinic in year 10... The week was a continuous rollercoaster between complete and utter boredom (there are only so many desexing surgeries one can watch with interest), and devastation. I've never been so glad for a compuslory school related activity! Since then, I've wanted to become a doctor. It's super nice to hear that you're on track to fulfilling your ambition to become a psychologist!

I do vinyasa style yoga, and really enjoy it. I like that it flows, and that it's athletic. I find hatha style to be too meandering, and ashtanga style to be too regimented. I tried bikram once and found it to be agonising... That heat and humidity is just a bit too much. I'd be wary of bikram if you have a tendency for anxiety/panic... I don't have a tendecy for panic, but felt quite trapped in the room and could imagine becoming panicky if I dwelled on the trapped feeling. Vinyasa and I are a good fit! I take classes at my local gym. I've come across yogaglo.com though, and have been meaning to give it a go... they're a relatively affordable subscription online yoga class. I believe they have a free trial period if you want to give it a go! I personally find that practicing yoga by attending in-person classes is more fun, and less of a challenge in gaining a routine, but online might work really well for some!

@missep Awesome, another fellow postgrad psych! ^^ I definitely agree about the thesis topic part! It can be especially hard if you have no idea in the beginning what you even want to do it on, but I was lucky and had a very supportive and guiding supervisor who help me get through it - somehow!
