Someone validating feelings makes such a huge difference hey @sunnygirl606 ! Thank you for sharing that story, a lot of people in my life have a needle phobia - I don't get why people would say "just get over it" ... I can't imagine it's ever helped anyone! Phobias and anxiety definitely don't make us weak, I'm so glad that nurse said that to you and it made you feel better.
And so true about people listening and being there for each other

@Loony88 I agree, having a great bunch of people around us can help us feel secure, understood and safer. They are more likely to provide fun and activity that doesn't involve drug use. Do you have a group of like-minded people around you?

Hi @Boatsman15 ! I hope you are doing well friend. Bullying is a very hard thing to go through and I hope that you are okay and that school hasn't been too hard. One thing I want to remind you is that you do not need to change yourself and your interests. Being into those things make you who you are and it's sad that people don't appreciate it. You are 14 and you will get through this I promise. Focus on the things that you love, and keep developing tough skin and don't let the bullies get to you because people just pick on those that they are jealous of. People bully when they themselves are insecure. If life around is feeling lonely don't forget that there is a community around you that is always willing to help and talk. Hope you are well friend, and that things get better :)

Puppy is home. Cats are freaking out. dad's putting too much pressure on me and not letting me set boundaries. Exhausted, sleep deprived and very busy. Won't be around for a bit while I sort it all out.

Hi @ExcellentBeing5 ! I can relate to how you feel to some extent. I'm sort of in the same boat (same age, going to uni, have had thoughts about friend groups, etc) and quarantine hasn't made it easy to meet new people and moreover keep those connections going. For me I actually really wanted to meet a new friend group when uni started and get close to them at uni and it hasn't worked out that way since I've been so busy with studying, and thankful I met my GF, and spending time with her has been great so I haven't been too disappointed with not making new close connections. There are some other things I could suggest you do like trying to find friends through online communities but honestly, that is hard as well. Good luck for the future and finding friends, and can I also ask what you are interested in just out of curiosity?

@cavehag you're welcome! Remember that everyone is different though! Also just be kind to yourself.. I don't know about you but I got really frustrated by how slow and foggy my brain was at the start, was almost impossible to get work done but it gets easier and you start to remember that you do actually have a brain and it does work! hahaha

It's so cool that you're a dancer @LeapofFaith! I was too uncoordinated to be good at dancing when I was younger. It's great that you've found something that you love which helps you manage your mental health. Family environments can be such a big trigger for eating disorders. :( I had a family member who developed one when a lot of stressful things were going on in the family and there was a lot of arguing at the time. This was a long time ago and thankfully they're better now. I'm glad that you've managed to receive some support at school and that you're feeling better now. :)
