TW: Friendships

hey guys,

I'm having a really hard time with all of my friends, and I really don't know what to do.

lately I have been through a lot for family matters and all of my friends have not even ever asked me if I was okay and if I wanted to talk and now I have no one to talk to, its like all of my emotions and thoughts are bottled up. (they all know what happened to me).

i have no one to talk to and I'm starting to get bullied at school and I don't know what to do,

im 17 by the way and it would mean a lot if I could get some help or advice.

Spoiler

i also have had su1cidal thoughts in the past and I am scared if this gets worse I will get really upset again.

its like there's nothing in this world that makes me excited and want to stay in it anymore.

its really hard to be happy these days since covid.

Hey @Livvy_Gold

I just wanted to chime in after reading your post. It sounds like things have been really tough for you lately and I am really glad that you have been able to share this with us. It takes a lot of bravery to share these things so you should be really proud of yourself for taking that step.

I know you mentioned that you have been through a lot recently and that your friends haven’t been checking in with you or making sure that you’re okay which must be difficult for you and it is understandable how this is making you feel. I was wondering if you have tried to speak to them about this and let them know how this is making you feel? We have some articles on friendship here which might be good to have a look through, there’s even one about how to tell your friend when they have hurt you.

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing bullying at school, it is something that no one should ever have to experience and it is never okay. Is anyone aware about this or have you spoken to any of your teachers or school supports about this?

You mentioned that it is really hard to be happy these days since covid and I wanted you to know that feeling this way is very valid and you are not alone in feeling this. Covid has had so many impacts on our lives and has been a lot of change for us all to deal with and adjust to, and many people feel this way. I wanted to let you know that we have some resources around covid and the impact which you might find helpful to have a look through here. Do you think this would be helpful?

Hi @Livvy_Gold ,

I'm sorry to hear that you have been through a lot lately, and no one asked you how you are. It must be so hard to bottle up all these emotions and not have an outlet. Loneliness/isolation can really make things worse, just as talking to someone can help release some of these feelings.

Have you ever contacted services such as Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800? Sometimes just having someone to listen can help with those bottled up feelings.

As the same time, I'm sorry to hear that you are getting bullied at school. This factsheet about How to Deal with Being Bullied may be of interest to you.

From you post, you mentioned "its really hard to be happy these days since covid". Does that mean that pre-covid, there were things that you looked forward to? Would it help to share some of what you used to look forward to?

I'll be sending an email your way shortly.
