Society’s intelligence vol. 1

Okay I have this thought, it’s kind of convoluted and confusing so I figured writing it down might help and maybe some one else would agree.

So first off I think society’s definition of intelligence is limited. Now I know this sounds out there and like some kind of hoax but bear with me:

Have you ever heard of the Danny Kruger effect?

This is a journey that we all go through multiple times through life, it is the journey of knowledge and confidence. When we learn about a topic we start by knowing nothing then once we know a bit of it we gain this sense of false confidence and believe we know a lot about this certain topic. This however is far from the truth and as the individual begins to learn more and more about something they realise just how little they know and begin to actually progress in their understanding of a topic. It is essentially why I believe that some of the humblest of people know more than they let on. This also leads me to believe that society as a whole is flawed, especially in their knowledge and beliefs of intelligence.

Intelligence for a long time for me meant knowing a lot about a certain or many topics but as I grow and progress I realise just how limited everything is. Therefore I believe that true intelligence is defined by curiosity and persistence, one’s ability to look beyond what they know and to continue doing so perpetually. This of course is tiring and we will never learn everything in a single lifetime but I do believe that it separates the open minded and the people who are stuck in a singular spot.

In short, don’t stop. Don’t stop trying; to learn, to perfect, to progress, to question. These questions and continuity is what will keep our society moving forward and keep people informed, don’t blindly trust anything, trust your gut and learn as much as you can. Your mind will either hinder or protect you, it’s your choice. Keep trying and good luck xx :))
