Taking it slow
Hey all, after a tiring final push to finish up with my university exams for this year i've realised that I haven't had the chance to appreciate what's to come for the rest of the year entering into 2025. After all the noise and distractions in my head, I feel like I finally am able to live in the moment again. And so, I was wondering, what is everyone planning to do during these final months of the year? Do you have any plans or goals to share? I also feel like I am definitely a person that overwhelms myself too much to the point where I struggle to enjoy things again. So, I was wondering if anyone has any similar experiences of feeling either overwhelmed or lost?
Please take care of yourselves, live in the moment and appreciate the things that you've accomplished this year (no matter how big or small) 🤗

Hey @Crownn !
Congrats on finishing your exams! I can definitely relate to you about feeling overwhelmed and lost. I think it's definitely a common experience with students and it can be really tough when there isn't really a goal we're striving for.
For the remainder of the year, I'm starting a new part time job and am hoping to shower my friends and family with gifts, and spend more time with them where I can! Trying to balance uni, work and social life has definitely been tough for me, so I'm planning to take the semester off next year just so I can relax, appreciate and have more time for things around me and myself. I'm trying to learn how to slow down more and just take in how wonderful life can actually be when I don't have so many things on my plate.
Since it's been a few days since this post, do you have anything you're looking forward to for the remainder of the year? Or even next year?
Hope you can rest lots and spend time doing things with those you love during your break 😊
Apologies for the late reply! @pewpewj19
I appreciate your comments. Now that you have mentioned it, there really isn't a big goal that i'm striving for. Apart from finishing university and entering the workforce, I feel like i've been thinking a little too far forward and thus forgetting about the present. I think that I definitely need to stay more grounded in the present and focus on things that I can actually do right now.
Good luck with your new part time job : )
I hope that you'll find alot of enjoyment with this holiday season (sounds like you have a lot to look forward too haha). With taking a semester off to recharge, I definitely think that it's a good idea from the sounds of your circumstances. I believe that after doing so, you'll be able to find a new balance and readjust your lifestyle to what works for you.
For what i'm looking forward to, I definitely do have some hangouts planned with friends and plans with the family during this holiday season. I've been getting into card games, so that's a thing that i've been looking forward to when it comes to playing with friends. Hopefully I'll also be able to go on an overseas trip sometime next year too. At the moment, its just some light things, but hopefully i'll find some more things to look forward to for the rest of the year and even next year (i'm somewhat close to graduating, so I should look forward to that too lol).
Thanks for sharing your experiences once again (you've given me alot with your perspective). I'll be sure to rest up and spend time doing things with my loved ones during my break!! (sending the same sentiment right back at you 🧐)
My plans are to go for another mini day trip before the year ends. I keep planning one but it keeps getting put off so hopefully next week 🤞
I'm also trying to become a more confident driver because I'm looking for support work jobs and I want to be super good at driving ☺️
I totally understand feeling overwhelmed and lost, sometimes after so much stress from uni it can be. so difficult to get back into the swing of things and enjoy the things that life has to offer again 🙂
Congratulations on your uni exams!! @Crownn 💜
Hey!! @Green_Ghost
Good luck with that mini day trip! Hopefully everything follows through and goes well haha. I can relate with that feeling of wanting to be a more confident driver. I'm not necessarily an anxious driver, but there are some points where I do feel alot less confident in my capabilities and I do get reluctant to drive sometimes. However, i'm glad to hear that you are trying to become a more confident driver in chasing for those support work jobs. That's a great and motivational goal to have, and I wish you the best of luck with those endeavours!
Lastly, I appreciate your input of understanding what its like to be overwhelmed and lost. I feel like university does occupy too much of my mental space sometimes that I forget everything else outside of it when the break rolls around. However, after receiving everyones responses from this post, i've learnt to really enjoy my break and take the time to appreciate the things that I can do now with university out of the picture for a bit. I hope that your mini day trip (+ any other things that you are eager to do over this break) and your driving goals go well!
Hi @Crownn
Congratulations on finishing up university exams for the year. I understand where you are coming from with feeling overwhelmed or lost. One thing I have started reminding myself, particularly for my career and finishing my degree by the time I am 30 years old, is that I still have 40 years of work, I don't need to rush into getting into a top position or achieve all my career goals at once. I have time, making me enjoy more of my time at uni or even in my current job.
I also like to plan a trip or two with my friends during the holidays so we can be in the moment take our time and get away from reality for a week. While also prioritising my wellbeing and booking appointments for all the things that I forget to do while I am at uni.
It is always important to reward and recognise your hard work
Hi!! @Rara
Thanks for sharing your perspective on the topic. When you put it that way, there's definitely a long way for me to go and knowing that I have alot of time left in my life to accomplish these things that I aspire to do. Being in the middle of a rat race, I feel like that scaling those goals back and having a steady/gradual progress approach is the way to go, especially if I want to enjoy my time in university and/or work haha.
I'm also glad to hear that you planned a trip with your friends as a way to escape from reality for a bit. I'm for sure going to take this time to reflect on the work that I've done this year and to relax for a bit before I jump into things again. In general, I'll certainly take into account your perpsective from now on and have a bigger picture view on things. Thanks once again for your input 😀
Hello @Crownn, congrats on finishing all your exams for university.
I too just finished my exams and you are literally reading my mind because your posts has literally asked every exact same question I have been aiming to answer. Personally I have been working really hard and have to continue this effort over my undergraduate degree, but everytime I finish my efforts after exams, I make sure I prioritise my family and friends, as well as my own wellbeing. My plans are to exercise, swim and hang out with friends.
Please fill us in on your plans for the end of the year because I would love to hear. You need to reward yourself for your efforts and hard work as well.
Thanks for checking in on the online community's wellbeing @Crownn@Crownn 👑.
Hey!! @Beach_enjoyer2101
Congrats to you as well for finishing your exams and for the hard work that you put in this sem and year!
It is reassuring to know that i'm not alone with these thoughts haha (we're all in this together 💯). I'm right there with you when it comes to focusing on my degree, acknowledging that a break is necessary to escape from the academic grind. But yes, I definitely think that with having this period for a break, prioritising family, friends and your wellbeing is the way to go. I'm certainly going to do the same. I do have some plans made with friends during this break (excited the most for a particular music performance) and i'm also going to focus on my existing hobbies (specifically art). I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and plans on this post, and I hope that the rest of the year (+ your university journey) serves you well 🤗
Hey @Crownn,
Congratulations on finishing your university exams, you should be very proud of yourself and all your hard work! My degree didn't have exams but when i finished my final assignments of the year i always felt relieved and also felt i could live in the moment again. I enjoyed my degree but there were definitely stressful moments so it's nice to give your mind a break from academics, I totally can relate to your feelings of being overwhelmed or lost.
I just became a builder for the online community today, so i am looking forward to contribute to these forums! I don't have much going on for the rest of the year other than continuing to apply for jobs (which has made me feel overwhelmed and lost at times), but i have time to enjoy my hobbies and spend time with friends and family which is great. I am starting a course and more volunteering next year so i'll be more busy.
Your final paragraph is such an important message! I hope the rest of your year is filled with happiness 😊
Hey!! @Peony
I thoroughly appreciate your comments! It's for sure a common feeling with university. With all the highs and lows of my degree so far, it does become a bit of a drag at some points. Having those breaks in between is so important and I do love it when I get the opportunity to reset my mental space (i.e. the bliss of sleeping for the first time without the stress of exams and/or assignments after a long while). I'm glad to hear that you became a builder for the community also and I hope that it is fulfilling for you too!
I heavily relate to your circumstances in relation to the rest of the year as I also don't have much going on apart from applying for jobs again after being burnt out from the previous year coming into this year. And so, I share that feeling with you of being overwhelmed and lost at times, but i'm glad that we have this opportunity to fully appreciate our hobbies and spend time with our friends and family. If you don't mind sharing, i'd love to know what your hobbies are haha. Good luck with your course, volunteering opportunities and future endeavours coming into next year (I know you'll do great!!!). It's time to reset and take on the next year step by step (progress is progress no matter what it is!) 👍
Thanks for your kind words! 🙂 yeah, it's definitely a common feeling with university and it's always nice to have a break to take the time to do the things you enjoy doing and reset.
Good luck in your job search, it can be difficult and i hope we can both find work soon enough! My hobbies are reading, watching movies, baking, going on walks, writing and listening to music. I also like going to cafes and concerts. What about you?
For me, my hobbies include making art, gyming, playing games, reading and listening to music. I also enjoy going to cafes too and I'd love to get into baking haha (I've definitely thought about getting into it a bunch of times). Once again Peony, I appreciate your sincerity and I share the same sentiments 🤗
