@redhead first off, thank you for being honest. I would really love if you can make yourself safe instead today. It would be really great to get a bit more sleep before you doing anything. I think calling kids helpline or other resources available on the site, perhaps eheadspace, would be good. I am so sorry you are feeling like this, but please believe me when I say I care about you and you are really valued here.

I am so happy you have an appointment! Going to the ED is a good idea if things get harder. If you have netflix on your phone you can download eps and take it with you

Hey @litgym, I've been reading over this and couldn't not stop and send you a reply. I just want to let you know I have read a few other posts of yours and can see how kind and well respected you are here in the community. I really want to ask you to extend that same kindness to yourself. I understand being in a place like you are in now, but I need you to know that you are so loved here and we all really want you to be happy and well again. Can you watch netflix or do something that can distract you for a bit? What about trying to eat chillies or something spicy? I find that distracts me. I am really and truly wishing you the best. Can you please keep yourself safe today?

Hi @litgym, I am sorry you are feeling so bad. I can see the admins are working hard to talk to you so make sure you are in contact with them. I just want to say I know this feeling, and it is awful. You are so well respected and loved here because you extend so much kindness to others. I want you to extend this same kindness to yourself and make sure you can do what you can to stay safe.

Hi @zen49 just thought I'd quickly pop in and say that to become a psychologist you need to have completed a four-year APAC accredited psychology course (an undergraduate with a major in psychology and honours) and a Masters in psychology. Seeing as you already have a bachelor degree, I think you would qualify for an advanced graduate diploma in psychology - this means you can fast track your psych subjects and don't have to do a three year undergrad degree again. Applying for masters is also a process - you need to have your honours degree and many courses want you to have some experience in mental health. I highly suggest you speak to a course counsellor because they can provide some guidance. Good luck with it all, psych is a really rewarding degree!!

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble sleeping, that can sometimes put our emotions out of wack, and make us feel down. I applaud you for posting on the forums about your feelings and I am glad you find watching horror movies helpful. Making a really great self-care routine can be helpful with coping with your emotions. Perhaps watching a movie now might distract you a little? Is there any family or friends you can speak with about this?

Hey there @Guzman123 I am really sorry you are having trouble with anxiety, but it is awesome you have reached out for support, and know that support benefits you! Is there anything you can do at the moment to make yourself feel good? Like a cup of tea or some helpful breathing techniques? Here to talk, and part of the support brigade!! I hope you feel better soon

Hey there @anonymousgirl101, I understand this fear and I'm sorry it is making you feel anxious. I moved from my country town to the city to study for uni four years ago and had the same worries. However, it has been one of the most rewarding and fun experiences of my life. In my first week, I organised to participate as many of the uni events as possible, and organised to do lots of activities with my corridor (I lived at uni accommodation). I was so busy that I didn't have time to worry, and I had so much fun. I know everyone's experience is different, but I think a little distraction can help anyone. I also suggest you watch some youtube vlogs about moving to uni (mainly australian ones) because they can make you get a better feel for what actually goes on. I also read a few forums about moving out of home into a share house and all the dos and donts, which made it easier to visualise living there. Transition periods are tricky, but they are also very exciting. I am really proud of you for taking such a positive step!

@Esperanza67 thanks so much!! Congratulations on studying psychology, I can really see how this would compliment your studies. I think the idea of not having too much pressure is really nice, and can be really helpful in balancing life! Thanks again!

Hey lokifish and any other moderators? I have a few questions and not sure what you can answer. Given that you all put in so much effort (and its greatly appreciated) how do you feel about not being paid? My second question is, do you receive support from clinicians/reachout people? Thank you!

Hi everyone, I am bigavocado and Im a fourth year uni student doing A BLOODY LOT. Its good though. If you could control any element, what would it be? I would obviously be a water bender because I really like tea and hot water bottles. :) What is your favourite snack? As my name suggests, I could eat smashed avo for days (and not be able to afford a house apparently :P) What are you going to do during your holidays (if you have any this month)? Im in my mid-sem break now, and am working and going to a few bands What gets you motivated? The morning sun at about 7am, and afternoon sun at 4pm - golden hour makes me excited for whats to come on that day/night What's your favourite song to dance and sing to? Parcel's 'Lightenup' is my current anthem, also really loving nicki minaj at the moment
