I agree @cutewintter he left us way too early, so sad. I was just listening to his song Wishing Well, which is one of my favourites. He was so talented.

I am definitely one to over think things as well @hunginc . I agree, I probably overthink things out of fear of failure or fear of others not liking me. I am often thinking and worrying about what others are thinking about me; which is a huge waste of time and energy. Recently I have found that engaging in mindfulness and trying to stay in the moment has helped me overthink less. When I find myself thinking about what other might think of me, I stop and tell myself "They probably aren't thinking that anyway, and if they are who cares."

@Justwhatever good on you for getting out of those toxic relationships, it can be a difficult thing to do. It's so important to have friends and people in your life who make you feel included and supported. Sounds like you have made a good decision to help improve your happiness and wellbeing. Talking from personal experience, it's not worth having people in your life who aren't real friends to you. Since finishing school I have cut friends out of my life because we have grown into different people who no longer share the same values. I am really happy now with the new friends I have found and no longer have to worry about exclusion or fitting in. Thanks for sharing your story @Justwhatever I think it is really inspiring

Hi @JonoG , I definitely know the feeling. On the lead up to my drivers test I felt extremely nervous. For me I tried to rationalise the test. I thought to myself whats the worst that could happen, I could fail. Then I thought if I fail that's ok because I can take the test again. I know this may not calm nerves for everyone, but on the day this really helped me reduce the nerves. Hope it goes well, good luck

Hi @number20 this must be really frustrating for you as sleep can be so important, especially for someone who is as busy as yourself. That must also be frustrating seeing experts but not really getting the answers you need. Every now and again when I struggle to get to sleep because of stress or because my brain won't stop thinking about everything, I try taking deep breaths and engage in mindfulness. I try to clear my mind and relax my muscles. This works pretty well for me, but I know this doesn't work for everyone. A friend of mine also listens to a rain app on her phone that plays the sound of rain on the roof. This really relaxes her and helps her sleep as she has had trouble sleeping for a long time. I've also heard that meditation techniques can be really helpful to relax the mind and body before sleep. I hope this helps

Cool thread @MB95 . Funnily enough one of my uni assignments for a psychology class was to watch movies that portray mental illness and write a report on how the characters show symptoms for the disorders and if it's accurate or not. One movie we watched was Lars and the real girl. This movie had Ryan Gossling in it and he played a character with delusional disorder. The other movie we watched was Mississippi Grind, a casino style movie where the main character appeared to have gambling disorder. Both movies were ok, I think I may have enjoyed them more if I didn't have to study them haha.

Hi @TANDT , thanks for sharing. I am actually went through a similar thing for a few months of this year. I kept wondering what was wrong with me. I love my boyfriend so much but I just didn't feel like having sex for a while. For me this lack of sexual urge was due to many things; medical reasons, painful intercourse in the past, changes in mood/ stress throughout covid and more. I opened up to my partner and we talked about it for ages. He was super understanding and supportive, so we just didn't have sex for a while. For me this was a phase and now I am beginning to want to have sex more again. I went to see a doctor to help with my medical problem, which is improving. I have also worked on my mental health and have found that this has really impacted my sex drive. You are definitely not alone with this, as I know other people who have experienced the same thing as well

Hi @Anonymous , I have not been in the position you are in but I have been the friend in a similar situation. Like what @James99 said, my friend told me before hand that there was something important he wanted to talk to me about which made the info seem a little less out of the blue. Overall it went really well for my friend and we are as close as we have ever been. I think it's so amazing you have such a supportive friend there for you. I hope it all goes well

@clarii3105 thanks for making this thread! I think after such a wild and stressful year it's important to look at the good things that have happened. I completed my university degree this year which was pretty exciting I also got into my first relationship and am super happy I became a builder this year as well which has been a fun way to communicate with others when I was in lock down.

@Bella2 great thread, thanks for starting it! If you could pick three people in total from past and present to have dinner who would it be? Oooo I would probably choose Freud as well @clarii3105, would be super interesting! And then I'd also have Harry Styles (how could I not) and Emma Watson. As a child what did you wanna be when you grow up? A doctor If you were a dog which breed would you be? Cocker Spaniel (not sure why, just get that vibe) What is the weirdest food combination that you like? I'm not sure if I have any weird food combinations, but I enjoy eating frozen peas from the bag which I have been told is pretty strange What is the weirdest fact that you know? The national animal of Scotland is a unicorn

Hey @Luker , thanks for sharing, I have found at times through iso I have been in the same position where I may forget to eat a meal. One thing that really helped me was living with other people who would remind me to eat. I also agree with what was said above, setting alarms has helped as well

What are some foods which help boost your mood? Fruit really helps boost my mood and gives me energy. I absolutely love raspberries and oranges. Do you have any simple recipes which are great for when time/motivation are running low? When I don't have heaps of time to cook dinner I love making a simple gnocchi. You cook the gnocchi then add roasted pumpkin, spinach leaves, chicken or tofu, roasted cherry tomatoes, pine nuts and a tomato pesto sauce. It's really easy to make and tastes yum as. Are there any new foods you'd like to try? Why not pick up something different next time you're at the supermarket! I would really like to try different types of seafood. I never really liked oysters when I was younger but want to try them again now I am older to see if I like them or not.

Thanks @celestialdreamer ! When I am losing focus I find it good to take a quick break before getting back to study. I also find that making a list of tasks to do and ticking them off when completed helps me to stay focused as I feel some satisfaction when ticking things off. Hope this helps @celestialdreamer

My favourite songs this month are: 1. Numb - Elderbrook 2. How did I get here - ODEZA 3. Low - Chet Faker 4. Play It By Ear - OFFAIAH 5. Wake Up - Petit Biscuit

I have just finished my final university exams and found it pretty tough at times to keep motivated studying. I found that having a routine really helped me, so planning out what exactly I was going to be studying each day and planning breaks. I also would make sure I exercised regularly to clear my head and reduce stress.

Hi @November13 , thanks for making this thread, I love watching scary movies and dressing up for halloween. What's your favourite Halloween memory? My favourite halloween memory is going trick or treating with a friend when I was a kid. I remember knocking on the door of one house and seeing a scary spider decoration in the window, then running away out of fear! My friend and I still laugh about this memory today. Any costume suggestions? What's your costume for this year/ what would your costume be if you had to pick one? A few years ago I dressed up as Pennywise the clown, and temporarily dyed my hair red for the costume! I really got into it that year haha. I always think dressing up as something spooky for halloween like a zombie, vampire or creepy clown or something is fun. I love using face paints and makeup to really bring the costume to life. What's your favourite Halloween treat? I would have to agree with you @November13 I absolutely love Reeses peanut butter cups, they are sooooo good. Happy Halloween everyone!!!

I definitely agree with what many posts have said. Lockdown has made the study and downtime a bit blurred for me as well. I feel like going for a walk at the end of the day helps me to clear my mind and take a break from study.
