I love Trouble and Cluedo! Some other of my fave board games include:
- Scrabble: I'm not great at it but it's a good one to play while watching telly or something, it can just be a relaxing way of playing a game without everyone having to be 100% on the ball the whole time.
- Cranium: Includes the best of so many games like charades, pictionary etc and is often a game where each person can find something they excel in. It's a great way of breaking the ice and getting comfortable in a group, you kind of have to give up on looking cool and just be silly.
-The Game of Life: This game lacks tactical complexity but I still like it. Interesting to see what people prioritise and what people see as frivilous.

Oh gosh, I hate packing. I know what you mean about accumulating junk!
I've lived in 4 different countries over the last 5 years so have had my fair share of moving stuff around the place. The worst thing about moving countries is having to get rid of stuff, like cheaper items of furniture, that you know you're just going to have to buy again when you get to the new place. I have bought so many lamps and book cases from IKEA over the years because it's easier just to buy them than transport them, I'm practically keeping the place in business!
Birdeye has some excellent tips, many of mine follow a similar theme. But, I'll share my main tips for moving anyway:
1. Try not to make packing last forever. If you can, have targeted times where you throw yourself into packing and getting things together. Then make sure you have time off as well. That way, it won't seem like you've been packing non-stop and you'll end up being more productive (this works well for studying as well!)
2. Be realistic about what you need. I have a tendency to collect things like ribbons and boxes with the hope that some day in future I'll have some use for them. It's worthwhile being ruthless and accepting that if you haven't had a need for it over the past few months, you're unlikely to need it at all.
3. Make it fun! Put on some good music, get some energy rich snacks and drinks (code for lollies or other enticing treats that will give you a lift) and maybe even invite friends over to help. If you make it fun, the process seems a lot less stressful and more like an excellent tool for study procrastination! haha (not that I endorse study procrastination... only sometimes)
Hope those tips help a bit. It's worth it in the end but I definitely feel your pain right now.

That's actually a really good point, @Birdeye. There have been so many shows I really loved and then suddenly felt awkward about when another member of the family was watching it with me (like Deadwood, anyone seen Deadwood?). It's rare to find a show that I feel comfortable watching no matter who is in the room. Even though there are some cringe-worthy moments in Modern Family, most of it's pretty light hearted and the humour seems to have cross-generational appeal.

I love Modern Family! I'm looking forward to watching the new episodes though as I'm sick of watching repeats!
I think my favourite character is Manny but I love them all. I think the article brings up some great points too. We can learn a lot from TV shows like Modern Family, kind of like The Simpsons, lessons and morals abound!

@Atma I know how you feel re: seeing a movie that comes from a book. I have a similar but different thing which is that once it's been made into a movie, I really don't want to read the book. I particularly don't want a copy of the book that has the cover of the movie on it. For some reason it just ruins it for me. Apparently Life of Pi is really good though, so worth following through with reading it first.
I recently saw two movies: one good, one bad.
First I saw Liberal Arts which was really good! It has Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's sister in it (I'm sure she'd rather not be remembered through that association but that's my only point of reference) and Zac Efron (who plays an unexpected role) and is all about becoming and adult and learning what it means to be mature and grown up. It's a bit art-housey but not too much and the acting in it is brill. 4 stars from me, David.
Second I saw Hitchcock and it was terrible! It has some brilliant actors in it like Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins but the storyline was weak as. I just think they didn't put as much thought into it as they could have. Would be interested to hear other people's thoughts on it though....

Aw man, I used to LOVE Nintendo 64! My favourite games were:
- Super Mario Kart (I always chose Yoshi as my character) - I just loved racing my friends and avoiding hidden banana peels
- Mario Party (once again was always Yoshi) - Hilarious fun and games for all.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time- A bit more complex than the Mario series, this ones a good one to play on your own. My favourite part was riding the horse around the town, I'm not sure what level the horse appears at but that was my fave.
-Snowboard Kids- It was pretty basic but I enjoyed the scenery, music and challenge of staying upright on a snowboard
Happy game playing! I wish I was playing Nintendo 64 right now... that would be ace.

Oh man, I just had toblerone flavoured gelato and am feeling pretty sick, so this conversation is timely but also a reminder of why I should be more careful when selecting rich flavoured ice cream/gelato.
But, on a normal day, I love mint choc chip ice cream all the way. I'm also a fan of sorbet's when the time is right. This place near work has blood orange sorbet and it's pretty amazing.

I'm loving Frank Ocean- Channel Orange. My favourite track is Pyramids which is really long but I love the complexity of the lyrics and how the song evolves over time.

I love Tetris... I'm actually terrible with spatial awareness in real life but seem to have a flair for it in retro arcade games. I find Tetris weirdly therapeutic.
And, I'm not sure if this counts, but I still like The Sims and Sim City. They're kind of old school but I particularly like the ability to design houses and cities.

Hey guys,
First post on the forum! So excited!
I thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce myself and also have a space for other people behind RO.com to come and do the whole introduction thing.
My name's Madeline and I'm one of the Content Producer's for ReachOut.com. This means that I spend most of my days writing fact sheets and looking for new things we can do with the text and video content on the site. I'm hoping to become more of a regular on the forums so I'm sure you'll see me popping up in various places around the site.
See you next in the 5 random things thread...
