Hi @makeitlovely I'm sorry to hear that you have not been enjoying certain subjects this year. Nevertheless, I think it's good that you have recognised a problem, acknowledged your feelings and reached out for some advice. I am a big believer about how anything is possible especially if you are determined and put your mind to it. So, I don't believe you have screwed up your education - it may be that you might take a not so straightforward path than you initially planned, and that is okay. I wonder if you could speak to someone at school about what your options might be. Perhaps your year coordinator, home room teacher, principal or even the teacher that was there when you selected your year 11 and 12 subjects. Even though it is the school holidays, I'm sure there are some staff who might be working and are willing to listen to your concerns. These are the people that really do care about your academics and well-being :)

@lokifish Thanks for bumping the post :) @mspaceK I share the same thoughts about the fave HP characters. I especially love Luna because she is a free spirit who does her own thing without worrying too much about what others think of her. Also, she says so many wise things.

Great idea @missep! I believe it is also important to show others how you got from a negative to a positive thought, so I included a question before getting to the positive thought. Your post reminded me of a YouTube video I saw recently: Negative: I feel like a failure for not passing a school test today and everyone else around me has passed. Question to challenge thought: Is it true that I am a failure? What is the evidence against that? Positive: Failing a test does not mean that I am a failure. It's normal to not get it right the first time especially when you are in an unfamiliar situation. It's important to remember that there are other things I am good at. Also, don't forget every failure means there is an opportunity to learn from your mistakes :)

@mrmusic That sounds, great! I like the sound of the client groups you have chosen and it's good that you know who you want to work with and who you don't. For your prac, are you in the client group you want to work with? Has there been some things you have enjoyed in your prac so far?

@mrmusic Hearing your story about how you want to use music to help people brought a smile to my face I'm sorry to hear that you don't have people that seem to support your goal. Maybe it's because they don't understand or respect that that is what you want to do. What instruments do you play? I vaguely remember you mentioning that you were learning the guitar... Do you have a specific idea about what type of people you would like to help? I just did a quick Google search about music therapy and learnt that you can work in aged care homes, hospitals etc.

I'm sorry to hear that, @mrmusic. You did say that you 'almost' have lost belief in yourself. So there is a part of you that hasn't. Maybe it might help to talk about the reasons you had for signing up to do the course you are in now. Sometimes reconnecting to that passion and reason can help you feel motivated again or get that sense of hope back.

@mrmusic I hear you . That fear of failure is a horrible devil that pulls us away from stepping out and trying again. And if you're surrounded by people saying that you're not good enough, then of course you may feel it is hard to even step out and try again. I get the sense as well that you are also feeling disappointed about yourself and starting to lose belief in yourself. Does that sound right to you? Am I missing anything?

@mrmusic Would you like to talk about the reasons you are feeling unmotivated? Maybe by writing it out we can help get you feeling more hopeful. That you can do this.

@mrmusic My heart goes out to you. Sickness and deadlines do not go hand in hand. Neither does having that seed of doubt of whether you are on the right path. I've got two assignments due on the same days as well as some others scattered in June. And I have experienced a similar seed of doubt as well. I'll touch base with you when I can give some ideas about how to get out of that funk - because that was me two weeks ago minus the sickness. I hope you get better soon! I wonder if you can ask for an extension given that you have been feeling sick for your assignments...

@Nightruner23 @mrmusic Originally I didn't want to talk more about my disappointments, but after watching this video I realise it's good to share the downs in life. The first disappointment was how I suggested an idea to the group thinking that we would go with a certain direction, but there were not keen on the idea and that is why we are back to square 1 figuring out where to go next. The second and biggest disappointment I need to accept and move on is how I have failed an assessment. And I have been given the opportunity to do it again but of course I feel like a failure because I don't think many other people had to do it again. PLUS, the negative feedback kinda sucks so there are moments where I can understand where it is coming from but also at times I seem to take it personally and catastrophise about what it might mean for the future. Anyway I'll try to do some journalling later tonight about this to see where my head is at. I might need to distract myself with a good book or TV so I can focus on other uni work.

@Nightruner23 The front of the phone doesn't look too bad. It looks like the back is more damaged. I've seen people with cracks across their iPhones and I'm surprised they're still using them. Hopefully it doesn't cost to much to get it fixed. @mrmusic I know the feeling. Has it been a bad few days or just today?

@Nightruner23 Oh, no! Sorry to hear that you have broken your phone. Are you looking to get it fixed? @mrmusic I just logged on the forums because I was feeling so disappointed about a group project. Originally we had a project idea and now it seems we have to change plans. And then I was dwelling on my other disappointments and realised that I needed to ABORT and change my thoughts. So, I'm on the forums, with a cup of Milo about to watch some YouTube videos. How are you? :)

@Zeldasmile It's okay to not know because as humans we are not mind readers. I guess what I was trying to get at was whether your best friend was distracted at the time. Like maybe they were playing games while you were trying to talk to them. Or maybe something you said made him angry and he yelled at you. From these suggestions, does anything come to mind? Of course, if you don't feel comfortable talking about it, that's okay. What I would like to know is how have you been this week?

I'm feeling good as well. I've been making some progress on homework, started reading a new book and watched some videos today too. Thinking I might go to bed earlier tonight to catch up on sleep. :) Do you know why your best mate wasn't paying attention to what you were saying?

@Zeldasmile It's good to hear that you have some hobbies and activities which can help you in your self-care and that you have told your teacher about the incident. I don't think it is stupid if you don't like the idea of psychologists as sometimes our attitudes towards health professionals can be based on our own past experiences or what we hear from our own social network. How are you doing this weekend? Have you talked to your best friend recently?

Hi @Zeldasmile I'm sorry to hear that you did not have great day at school today. I know you mentioned in your previous post that you have brought up the topic of bullying to your friends and teachers and no one has done anything about it. My first question is whether anyone noticed that somebody was whipping their hat into your eyes. And I was also wondering if you have a school psychologist that you could talk to at school?

@mrmusic I'm also doing okay. I feel like I am in the same boat as @Birdeye in feeling that I am capable of doing what I need to do but not feeling as confident as I was at the start of semester. I've noticed that at the start of last week I've been procrastinating but still keeping my head afloat. How are you travelling with your studies, @mrmusic?

It makes me happy to hear that And I understand where you are coming from about not getting your hopes up @Cheeseburger Just want to let you know that you are strong and you can get through this no matter what happens. You have your parents, your friends and the ReachOut team to support you Is there anything you would like to talk about? Maybe something like good sleeping strategies? Otherwise, I can let you go on with your day/night.
