@j95 writing music is an unreal experience! Making something that you're proud of and that you can share with others, the absolute best.
I've been playing guitar for ages and have only just started playing with friends again, it's the best. I can't wait to put together a band and start performing. I can't think of anything else that makes me feel as good as performing/writing music

@Bubblez I understand where you're coming from. There is lots of stigma associated with mental health, and I think sometimes people just need a little more education. BPD is something that not everyone knows about, so perhaps that might be why people seem to respond that way.
I completely understand why you would want to know why you are the way you are. After I was actually diagnosed with an anxiety disorder I actually had some relief because I knew what was going on with myself, that other people out there were going through the same thing, and there were things I could do to help cope .
I think it would be a great idea to have a chat about it with your psychologist, and perhaps you could even start by discussing your curiosity about your diagnosis with them too. That might be a great place to start.
If you want to get a second opinion, you could see your GP and explain that you want to see a different psychologist - they can refer you to someone else. When you do meet your new psych, you can also talk to them about arranging consent for the notes to be provided from your last psychoogist to help the transition too.

Hey @Bubblez
Sorry to hear about how you've been feeling, and i'm also sorry to hear how you feel about the negativity surrounding BPD! I think it really depends on the people you talk to, because among my friends and colleagues, BPD is not something that's viewed as "negative" at all! We all have our own struggles, and there may be a bunch of reasons why your psychiatrist hasn't provided you with that diagnosis.
I'm sure you've also heard this before, but it's good to keep in remind that a diagnosis isn't something that defines you, nor is it necessarily with you for life. With that being said, I totally agree that it can give you some peace of mind to know or have a better idea what you're going through, and in that case a diagnosis can help!
I personally don't think a second opinion would be a bad idea at all, and it might help you give you some more peace of mind around it. I was also just wondering if you'd discussed your thoughts about BPD (and that your psychiatrist & GP mentioned it before) with your psychologist?
One more thing you might find helpful is this fact sheet on Borderline Personality Disorder on RO. Feel free to have a read through it and see what you think!

@j95 just wanted to say congrats on your footy team winning, a celebration should definitely be in place.
I also just wanted to add that I think that it's really great that you have the goal of trying to be a good role model for your brother. I only have one older sister but I remember looking up to her a lot growing up, and she really helped me with heaps of things, including my mental health. I think your brother is lucky to have you looking out for him!

hey @FootyFan26
I can understand how yoru situation with your family could be frustrating. I haven't been to any of the Reach workshops but I have read about them and checked them out online, they seem really great! You might find it refreshing to have a little bit of time away too.
Feel free to let us know how it goes!

Hey @chick
Sorry to hear how you're feeling. It must be frustrating to be opening up to your friends but not getting the support you're after. Have you thought about contacting any support services? A few of the great ones mentioned here included headspace, Suicide Callback Service and Kids Helpline. All of them will have people that you can speak to about what you're going through. Alternatively you could see your GP and ask to be referred to a psychologist. They can really help you work through what you're feeling, and the the fact that you already have such an awesome goal gives you a great head start in the process.
In the meantime, we are all here for you. Feel free to let us know how you go.

hey @KjStormy
sorry to hear that you've been struggling with these feelings. I can totally understand that you'd feel nervous about it. I think ElleBelle's suggestion to have a practice conversation with someone might really help. Otherwise, maybe you could try writing down everything you need to say to him to help you feel more prepared and less nervous.
Feel free to let us know how you go :)

Hey @Andrea Nicole
Sorry to hear how tough things have been for you - i'm glad that you're reaching out for support. It sounds what you're going through is a lot to handle and you shouldn't have to do it on your own.
Have you given any thought to talking to your grandparents about what you've been feeling? If not, do you think you'd be willing to call headspace to have a chat about what you're going through? You're not alone in this and many people feel this way from time to time, but there is support out there for you - you can get through this.
Please keep in mind that if you ever feel overwhelmed and need to talk to someone, you can always contact Lifeline or the Kids Helpline as mentioned by @safari93 in the post above.

Hey @cjkb
I can understand what you mean. I like @ElleBelle's suggestion of finding a dorky photo of them so they don't seem intimidating anymore lol.
I completely understand where you're coming from. I often feel like I need to be in peoples good books, and not just my employers! I sometimes get anxious when i feel like i've lost their favour, and often I find out that I was worrying for no reason. I don't think what you're going through is too unusual, but if it's really affecting you then i'd second ElleBelle's suggestion to speak to someone like a counsellor or your GP about it.

@j95 A while ago I had to go to K-mart to buy some stuff for our office at work.
I had about 3 things on my list and walked out with like 10. A sandwich toaster was not on the original list.
It's so hard when things are so cheap and in your face as you walk down the aisles!

@stonepixie sorry to hear how things are going with your friends at the moment, it must be tough with your family being far away too but it's good to hear that you are linked in with a psychologist for support.
My network is pretty small but I am very close with a couple of people, but in saying that, there's probably only one or maybe two people that i'd actually talk to about really personal stuff.
I've felt the same - wondering if i'm annoying them with my problems - but often I find that my worries are unnecessary. It takes time but i'm sure you will find someone that you can feel that way with too, and hopefully you're proven wrong about them not sticking around for long.
Tonight's GR is over but feel free to let us know how things go with your friends on another thread in the forum!

Okay guys, time for the next question.
Men often struggle to develop strong support networks. Have you found this difficult? What are some ways you have been able to overcome this?
I've always had a small group of close friends but I feel quite comfortable with them. I think it helps to be really proactive and really make the effort to socialise with new people. Friends of friends at parties, talking to new people at uni etc!
