Well, I walked in on the conversation a tad late! ;)
Serves me right for taking a stroll around the block after dinner.
Thanks for letting me know, @sunflowers5
And thanks too @Myvo

So true, sunflowers5! Hello by the way :)
We need much more support in the community! What has been the experience in your line of work, @sunflowers5
Wouldn't it be good if politicians actualy took notice of where their funding should go.
I am amazed by how many organisations i have come across in the community though, that not only help those with disabilities, but also mental illness, and also the aged and infirm in our communities...

Hey @Mr Hyde !
How are you doing today? Thanks for connecting here on the forums!
Life sure takes us through many ups and downs! Things always seem to be changing, just when we start to get the hang of something! It sure is easy to feel sometimes, that nothing we do really matters. A few months ago I went through similar feelings, that I had lost my passion, and i found it hard to get myself motivated. It sounds like you are going through such a slump at the moment.
What helped me most, was realising that I didn't have to prove anything to anybody! It was such a relief actually, to realise this, and that "worth" isn't measured by what you do. You already have that VALUE in you! :)
The next step is to focus on doing things that you actually like doing, and that make you feel good inside. Kinda like nurturing yourself! What sort of things can you think back on, used to make you feel happy when you were doing them? Being outside in nature? playing a sport? painting or drawing? playing video games? reading a favourite book? helping your little brother with his homework? playing with the dog? mowing the lawn?..
Maybe make a list of these things today, and commit to doing a few of those fun things you enjoy and are good at.
And remember the saying that if you get YOU in the right space, then everything else ends up falling into place! Once that slumpy feeling shifts, you will start to feel better about yourself. I ended up making those lists, and ticking them off, and over time I noticed a positive change in how I was feeling about myself.
I hope you soon get back into your groove again, @Mr Hyde !
See if this Fact Sheet gives you some more ideas on what you might be going through - it talks about getting motivated.
Let us know how you get on!

Hey @j95 !
How are you doing today?
Thanks for sharing what you are going through at the moment.
It sounds like you have been doing a lot of self-reflection, and thinking about what things you want in life.
Sometimes we make decisions that we are not always happy with. I know myself, that it's at those times, I really need to take the time to take a stock-take of my life. It sounds like you have been doing that. Sometimes things get tough for a while. It is all part of the growth process.
At 19, thinking about 'the rest of your life' can be daunting. I know at 19, I had a different perspective on my life than I do now. It's good that you feel you are no longer covering up or hiding important issues. Talking the process out with someone can be extremely helpful.
Life can be complicated at times, and it's never going to be 100% perfect. Sometimes we get to grow, live and learn together, where other people are a big part of that process. Just remember to always come back to yourself, and keep making decisions that make you feel proud of who you are, and where you're at. It's okay to make mistakes too. I know I 've made my share of em!
Remember that you can also talk to someone whenever you need, just by picking up the phone and dialling Lifeline, KidsHelpLine, or other telephone counseling services. Sometimes just having someone to bounce your ideas back to you, can give you a bit of clarity.
Take care of yourself, @j95 ! Myself and the rest of your buddies here, are interested to hear how things are going for you today.

Hi @jvkn ! We've had a bit of time on our hands, as uni semester and exams draw to a close, and find myself checking out my favourite TV shows - even venturing into some previously uncharted television stations!! :D
Will try to keep it in balance as i find myself wanting to move my bod!
What was the last movie you saw in a cinema?
How To Train Your Dragon 2
What are your favourite movies?
The Devil Wears Prada
Captain America
About Time
What movies make you laugh?
The Three Amigos
The Office
What movies make you cry?
Notebook
Avatar
What movies do you have to watch twice to actually understand what it's about?
- probably no chance of that happening. I either fall asleep, or get up and go start cleaning or making dinner if that happens! :D
Is there a TV show that you often binge-watch?
* Dragon - Defenders of Berk episodes (based on How to Train Your Dragon movie & book)

I organised my uni subjects for next year, cleared some clutter upstairs, and worked through some personal growth stuff!
What is something you would change about this week?
Sleep was good this week, but i would have liked to get into the garden. Definitely needs doing!
What are your goals for next week?
get stuck into moving my body more - exercising to a sweat, gardening, having fun with it! :D
hopefully get to catch up with my good friends ♥
keep working through my personal growth stuff, keep empowering myself
How will you treat yourself today?
I went swimming today with my little sister
Had a picnic overlooking the water and boats
Watched "Lost in Space" on DVD
What are some things you do to unwind after a long week?
watch some tv or a dvd
play games with my sister's kids or take them to the park
read a book or do some crosswords (just started these, but am not doing so well lol!)
This is indeed how I have looked after myself and mine, after a long hard week..
Hope everyone has an awesome week ahead!

1. Favourite memory from when you were younger?
Swimming in an old off-shooting arm of a famous river in Europe, and being able to see the stones 3 metres right to the bottom!! The water was so cool and surprisingly clear!
2. Your first career choice in primary school?
First, at age six, I wanted to be a cartoonist/animator, I loved drawing so much! Then at age 12 an archeologist, and sent away for a short mail order course on this. I also then wanted to be a children's book author, and sent away my first manuscript to a publisher that year, complete with drawings, about a little peacock chick on adventures. They thought it was "cute", and encouraged me to "keep on writing". One day maybe...
3. An old school song that brings back good memories?
I would like to go with a song I really enjoyed as a young teen! This clip awesomely has the full theme songs spanning several decades:
4. A new song that brings back good memories?
Anything by Train!
5. Your favourite thing to do on the weekend?
To wake up relaxed, hear nature's morning sounds outside, see everyone enjoying the sunny days, going somewhere near water, eating out somewhere...
6. Your least favourite thing during the week? (And how do you not let it get you down)
Sorry to say this, but yes, it's doing the dishes!! I don't know why I don't find that job immensely engrossing. To date, I have not found any clever method to make me really want to do it. But I do, as you know. ...Should I just get a dishwasher??
7. Your first crush?
I guess like all little girls, I would have to say, my Dad! (Later turned into a much more challenging relationship, at best!..)
8. The last letter you wrote to someone?
To my friend in East Africa. She runs an awesome educational facility there. I'm very proud of her!
9. Your goal/s for the next week?
To finish having that big clean out and greet the summer holidays with enthusiasm and carefreenees - another year almost to a close, and it always feels like a welcome reprieve and a mini-fresh-start on things.
Your hopes for the future? (where would you like to see yourself in 15 to 20 years)
I'd like to see that the world becomes a more equitable place for all. And about me - well, I'd like to be in a career where i am helping people, possibly as a psychologist. I'll have a gorgeous family and have a house by the sea, and be cooking up delicious dishes (I get to play with food as an adult!). I also hope for my future self, that I will be content in life, whatever i am doing, and that i have learnt how to manage change better, and stay optimistic.
The best food to eat?
Definite feel-good foods for me are any & all fruits in the world! They're real pick-me-ups and always refreshing. Just be sure to add a sunny beach, and I'm set! And after that, every other food known to man - I just love my food and love experimenting. Food is something really social to me.
Best things about summer/christmas/holidays?
The sun, beaches, spending time with family and friends, eating, relaxing, swimming.
Something you have been thinking about but not said out loud?
"How good would it be to take a break from Social Media for a while!!"
An example of a celebrity that does things you admire?
I think everyone who speaks out on worthwhile causes and speaks up against injustice, and initiates or advocates change - basically every good streak in a person who wants to make the world a better place.
I know i skirted around answering this question properly. That's because I would be wholeheartedly agreeing with @jvkn and mention Emma Watson, ...along with Russell Brand. Many others, but these two recently. (Russell Brand for his speech on the issue below:
A quote that keeps you going?
The song that goes, "Always look on the bright side of life!"
It's a real hummer!
Thanks for listening/reading! Have a great day all!

I hope your little brother likes it, @jvkn !
I have a young one in my family that also would love something to care for....and you know, i think my mind's made up: we shall go the way of the fish in the bowl, for starters!!
That takes care of the allergy bit as well.
Dog can join us later
Thank you so much for all the ideas and inspiration all! This has been some session!

I'm willing to give it a try in the next few years....
I think it will be a welcome addition to our little family!
@ruenhonx pets are just so good for kids, arent they? As @jvkn was saying, it's a whole new dimension once you bring a pet into your life.
I always look in awe at those tropical fish tanks some people and businesses have! Absolutely gorgeous and mesmerizing just looking at them! Esp if you get some coral and anemones in your tank.
Pets are not just for a fling though - they would have to be an investment, like a real human relationship (lol).
And likewise, the returns are hundredfold - love, loyalty, companionship, catalyst for growth, and you have to spend time on them, and caring involves also giving them good food and healthy treats and vet care....you can't neglect them!!!
Do partners need treats and "vet" care?
Just kidding :)

You could always just ignore the allergies and hope for the best???
After all, they do say you can grow out of them. But whenever we've tried, it hasn't been the right time for that.
It gets a bit too tricky to keep the dog confined to the kitchen (which we had to end up doing with our pomeranian), and that wasn't fair on the dog, neither much fun for us!
I would still like a dog again one day, though....
