TW: Harassment. Feeling Upset and Concerned about My Safety.

Hey, me again.

As mentioned in a previous post, I will be returning to the workforce as a volunteer, working in administration for an organisation that works with rescuing and rehoming cats and kittens. While I am looking forward to this undertaking role, I was previously kicked out of another organisation that were also rescuing and rehoming cats and kittens, for reasons unknown. It was a requirement to be vegan and to take on a foster caring role for cats and kittens as well, something that I was not willing to do due to personal reasons. I too was undertaking an administrative role with this particular organisation, and little did these people know that I had actually enjoyed my role with them, and that I was a great asset to their team. In the end, I was viciously attacked for being an 'irresponsible pet owner,' because I allowed my cat to go outside, and we do not have a pet enclosure. When I stood up for myself, I was once again viciously attacked by another volunteer, who ended up saying to me 'go **** yourself you dirty ***. I am not promiscuous in any way, shape or form, so I actually felt upset when that rather disgusting comment was made about me, to me. When I brought this up with the head volunteer, she dismissed me, and minimised everything I said to 'you started it.' You started it. Really? The head volunteer then made a post on the page (after I was removed from it) stating that I had sent anyone any messages or if I had dare make a post/leave a review about them, to take screenshots so that she could pass them on the the police. And this is coming from the same group of volunteers who had sent me flowers to the psychiatric ward when I was extremely unwell mentally, months before this happened. I spoke with the police after this happened and I cried on the phone to them. They were very supportive and understanding of my situation, even after I asked to file a restraining order against this particular individual. I never filed a restraining order against this particular individual but because I am about to embark on my new role with a different organisation, I really feel that I should apply for one to be in place. I am worried that she, or someone else the other organisation will continue to harass me when I begin my new role. I want to remain safe.

Hi @-pringles-,

Do you have a preference for doing admin for these types of organisations, or would you consider volunteering for another type of place?

Just referring back to your other post where you mentioned wanting to study Law and Psychology as your first preference, and how you're wanting to find work as well. I'm just wondering if there were other volunteer options you could look at to help with your long term career goals.

Hey @Dem--RO

I am not sure if I would say that I have a preference in volunteering for these kinds of adminstrative roles for these particular organistions, but I would say that this is something that I do enjoy volunteering for. I think I should have mentioned in the main post that pretty much every volunteer for the new role that I am about the embark on had left the other organisation for various reasons - bullyig and harassement being the common denominator.

With regards to seeking volunteering roles that are better suited to my long term carer goals, this is something that I can seriously consider once I return to adult school, as I can get a lot of support around this.
