by myself in the middle of nowhere. - Poem

Hiya, this is a poem I wrote recently about feeling alone and angry. As a reminder, I am safe and have been for 58 days now.

P.S. you have a beautiful brain xoxo

Floating on an island by myself in the middle of nowhere.
Shifting in a state of denial,
Not showing any signs of despair.
Stuck in a never ending cycle.
Am I boring you?
Deal with it. It's my turn to speak.
I am drowning by myself in the middle of nowhere.
I am already weak,
Why do I also have to feel bleak?
I am the only one who is still aware.
I am the only one who still cares.
I am theirs. Or am I?
Honestly,
I don't know anymore.
All I know is that I feel like I am by myself in the middle of nowhere.

Hey @AngelPoison ,

Welcome back to the ReachOut Youth community! It is nice to hear from you again. It is courageous of you to share your poem about loneliness and anger. It has a deep message to it that other young people will be able to resonate with. Poems are such a beautiful way of expressing what you’re feeling and connecting with others.

It sounds like you’ve been feeling quite alone and angry recently. You are absolutely not alone, the community is here to support you! Loneliness and anger are common and normal emotions that are felt by many young people! After hearing about how you’ve been feeling, I am curious to know if you have spoken to any family or friends about what you’re experiencing? Sometimes it can also be helpful to speak to a professional for support, so I am wondering if you are in contact with your GP or a psychologist?

I also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge that you’ve been safe for 58 days! This is such an incredible and important achievement, and something you should be really proud of yourself for! During the past 58 days, what have you been doing to keep yourself as safe as you have been?

An email has also been sent to you so please keep an eye out for that.

Hi @AngelPoison

Thank you so much for sharing this poem you wrote with everyone! I am also so proud of you for being safe for 58 days, that is worth celebrating 💚

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem, I've always loved poetry for its ability to stir thoughts and feelings through words alone. I think you captured the feeling of being alone and angry really well. Does writing poetry help you process your thoughts, feelings and experiences? How long have you been writing poetry?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi @Matcha_Toad

Thank you so much for the acknowledgment. I am proud of myself aswell.

I am very glad that you enjoyed reading my peom and that you enjoy poetry in general. Poetry does help my process. I wrote my first poem when I was 10-11 years old (Can't exactly remember, but I know that I was in year 5), but I only just started writing poetry regularly as a hobby during around about the start/early last year.

Can't wait to post more! xoxo

Hi @AngelPoison

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your poem with us. I am glad to hear that you are safe. You are not alone in feeling this way, and you don't have to go through these emotions alone. This is a safe space, and we are all here to support you and listen.

I would also like to say that you have a natural talent for writing poems because your poem was genuinely touching and a beautiful way to describe your feelings. I actually really like reading poetry, so I enjoyed reading it.

I am curious: Do you always write poems about what you are going through? Does this help you?

I usually journal my feelings and thoughts, but I never thought about turning them into poems. Maybe I could try that...

I hope you have a lovely day. Take care of yourself. 😊💜

Hi @Mindful_Dreamer

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the compliment. I'm glad that you enjoyed reading my peom, and you think that I have a natural talent.

To answer your question, yes, I always write poems about what I'm going through. This helps me a lot and I've written quite a few poems now.

I'm glad to hear that you also write down your feelings in some way. I think you should give writing poetry a try. I personally love it because I can really express in detail what I'm feeling in an artistic way.

I hope you have a lovely day aswell xoxo🥰
